WOW that sub is fucking perfect, thank you for sharing

Sounds like hateful nonsense either way.

They have a wonderful way of massaging everything they don't like into being "every single one of us is socialized under patriarchy".

It's an incredible get out clause. Anything they don't like about men? Socialized under patriarchy. Anything they don't like about themselves? Socialized under patriarchy.

Their made up "facts" are quite hilarious. I'm not sure who they think will read this and then change their mind about anything, except maybe entering into a relationship with the author.

Anything they don't like about men? Socialized under patriarchy. Anything they don't like about themselves? Socialized under patriarchy.

Anything they do like is the genuine thing.

[–]ElfmanLV 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not having any plans to overrule patriarchy? Patriarchy. Benefits created by patriarchy (women safe in homes due to not going to war, getting lighter sentences in the Justice system)? Patriarchy. Just fucking anything to gain rights without taking responsibility.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Patriarchy started off as just another conspiracy theory used in the same way religion uses a Boogeyman to cast blame on for any and all perceived injustices or slights all for the single purpose of controlling the mindless idiots.

[–]KingRobotPrince 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Patriarchy started off as just another conspiracy theory

I think possibly it still is a conspiracy theory.

I couldn't stomach reading the whole article. Reading the type of self centered, judgemental BS EverydayFeminism produces is still depressing, even if it's only being parroted/mocked to make a point.

[–]v574v 17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That article was quite common when I was a kid - back in a day when we had a 'race/stupid people problem.'

Back then they'd list the colour of the offenders when crimes were committed and your every day stupid white feminist felt a lot safer around the men in her life... Smart people felt that listing race was propagating racism so they stopped and here we are today - stupid white feminists feel unsafe around all men not just the darker men.

If only these types of jerks would just stop using demographics to validate their prejudices so that other stupid people could stop being afraid all the time.

[–]west415bill 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I vaguely remember those types of lessons... like I was given one ages and ages ago... always wondered what happened with that, and now I know!

Pretty racist if you ask me. Send it to a news station followed by the original article and see if they go with it.

[–]The__Tren__Train 22 points23 points24 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

muslim is not a race

[–]bigman4004 24 points25 points26 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. I don't understand people who say hating Islam is "racist".

[–]The__Tren__Train 17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

the left is (for some reason) in love with Islam. Elevating a religion to the status of a race would seem to make it immoral to criticize

[–]fengpi 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

the left is (for some reason) in love with Islam.

The perception on the left is that they are a group which is being targeted for persecution. That is the reason, in case it had to be stated outright: a knee-jerk softness towards a group which seems to be marginalized (and this includes white Muslims, which is kind of an interesting exception to their general rule that white people are always favored just for being white). Calling prejudice against Islam "racism" is a lazy form of sleight-of-hand, I agree, seeing as how when you conflate Arabs with Muslims, the lefties will also turn-around and say-- ah-hah!-- Muslims aren't all Arabs because Bosnians and Indonesians.

[–]The__Tren__Train 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

seeing as how when you conflate Arabs with Muslims, the lefties will also turn-around and say-- ah-hah!-- Muslims aren't all Arabs because Bosnians and Indonesians.

which is basically a perfect demonstration of how liberals are children, and shouldn't really be taken seriously, generally speaking.

[–]fengpi 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Leftists also tend to be atheists, so I find it more peculiar that atheists who rather enjoy sneering at dogmatic religions like Christianity or Mormonism nonetheless walk on eggshells when it comes to Islam.

I also like to see them argue that there isn't anything particularly violent about Islam, but if you insult their religion or draw a cartoon of Mohammed then of course they have no choice but to become violent! Sheesh, did you think they wouldn't become violent?

I don't criticize lefties very often, so somebody had better write-down the date.

[–]WideExemplification 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

idk, when i visited atheism sub most people were very against islam, with the "but islam is actually" crowd usually downvoted to oblivion if i remember correctly. But then again they might behave differently in real life.

I mean here in my country i can say i want all muslims hanged and i wouldn't be given weird looks. Why you say? Because muslims were the ones who conquered our country for many years.. So i can't actually speak for how easy it is to dislike islam in the west, i can just assume. I imagine if few people want to get public backlash so they just keep it to themselves. It's probably not a priority issue to them

[–]fengpi 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There are quite a few atheists who aren't wrapped-up in SJW thinking. Any honest examination of Mohammed's life is going to reveal that he was a, uh, how can I put this... a guileful fellow.

That being said, I've been to the Muslim world a number of times and I rather like the food.

[–]v574v 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Race is an unscientific concept except when it describes a social culture and Mulsim is a social culture.

[–]VTHUT 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m curious to see the response of the feminists

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I like the idea. ANyone else think the writer of the original piece sounded a lot like this: https://youtu.be/Jaz1J0s-cL4?t=12s

The original article has like, what, zero statisics?

This is potentially depressing AF. Put a tag on this thing...

I didn't even read the whole thing.

Holy fucking shit.

[+]paleolithic_rampage -12 points-11 points-10 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I guess I don't think the analogy really works. I don't think you can use this framework to discuss Muslims, unless you are talking about a Muslim majority society.

I don't think Muslims really benifit from Sharia in the US or the UK.

[–]KingRobotPrince 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Whoosh?

[–]paleolithic_rampage -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

... apparently. Am so confused. I guess I don't even understand what parallels are attempting to be drawn here. Is the point of the article just that men don't hold institutional power?

[–]KingRobotPrince 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As far as I can tell, it's saying "look how bad it sounds to say these things about Muslims rather than men."

To try and point out that what they are doing is treating men badly, by showing how the same treatment is perceived when aimed at Muslims.

It's like when you see a feminist say "I wish I could kill all white men." We're meant to just take it and they are allowed to say it with no comeback. But then you substitute "white men" for "blacks" and get "I wish I could kill all blacks." And the idea is for people to then see how wrong this line of thinking is.

Unfortunately, it's not super effective, because the alt-left types will just say it's different because white men are oppressors.

[–]Imagineer3d 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Maybe this paraphrase can help: ‘Not all Muslims are currently terrorists but every single one is a capable and potential terrorist because they all learn Islamic teachings.’

Edit: There’s roughly 1.8 billion Muslim people in the world.
