Women have been trained to see their agency as a form of victimhood.

Maybe there's an evolutionary aspect to it as a manifestation of some biological tendency to be more submissive, but I think much more impactful is feminism along with other cultural institutions and it's constant infantilization of women.

Totally discounting how many women have had plum roles in Woody Allen films that furthered their careers. Without "Mighty Aphrodite," people would just know Mira Sorvino as Paul's daughter. The western female impulse to look as innocent and good as possible in any situation keeps them from being as productive as they might be otherwise. Well, it's not like she had a crystal ball and could see into the future to know that she was supposed to care about 25 year old unfounded allegations.

This is just an unrealistic standard to hold over women's heads. next you'll be saying Meryl Streep shouldn't have given Roman Polanski a standing ovation that he couldn't attend because of the child rape conviction. you can't expect women to know that their actions will have consequences years later.

The Guardian has degenerated into a woeful newspaper dedicated to giving space to second rate journalists who write supportive articles for feminist opportunists. I have not seen an attempt made to provide a balanced perspective for God knows how long. What's really sad is how opinion pieces are increasingly touted as "news."
