It's still frustrating to look at as a german. I've read a bit about the situation here in germany and especially my hometown. From the information I've read the majority of these shelters that exist are getting none or close to none of the public pool of money provided by our state.

I know this is a step in the right direction, and that's cool, but to put it into perspective. There are over 400 womens shelters in germany, and 350 of them, as far as I know at least, are funded majorly, if not exclusively, by state money. So in my eyes, a second shelter for men in all of germany is barely progress, more a slap in the face and almost mockery.

I know the shelter in my hometown(Oldenburg, if you're curious), can barely keep the lights on and there is basically no government funding, despite the fact that the shelter is basically fully occupied over 90% of the time. Last year they had to close the place where men could go to get information on what they could do in their situation(Legal stuff, what not to do, what to do, the whole spiel).

So to stop rambling, yes it's cool that men get another shelter but in the face of increased funding(I think they gave a bigger budget last year as well) and laughable number in comparison to womens shelters leaves me sad nonetheless... Maybe I'm just greedy and want too much change in too short a time... I don't know.
