To be fair, lifting a ban on adult FGM should be okay - they are consenting adults who should have power over their own bodies.

Any adult man or woman who wants part of their genitalia amputated should be allowed to have it done, since it's their body.

No infant or child, boy or girl, should have part of their genitalia amputated by their parents, because their body doesn't belong to their parents.

I agree, adults of both sexes should be able to choose that for themselves if they want to. Too bad there's not also a push to ban MGM against infant boys to create equality with infant girls

Boy gets his body modified without any medical necessity and without wanting it. The choice is made by uninformed parents ?

This is kind of like saying "since the rape of boys and men is treated as fine, we're going to treat the rape of girls and women as fine too". Not exactly the direction I wanted to go, but hey, I dnt make the laws.

It might for cases where women are pushed into it. It's easier to just have a blanket law than investigate if a women really wants to do it.

I hope it furthers thinking about both issues.
