Hi all,

One of my favourite hobbies is collecting cards from a game called Magic: The Gathering. As such, I often frequent the /r/MagicTCG subreddit. The big news on the subreddit recently has been that a cosplayer (female) accused a member of the Magic community (male) for harassment over the past year. A couple others (male) have also come forward claiming they have been harassed by this person.

The response that the moderators of the subreddit have decided was appropriate is here:

The worst part, in my opinion (and you can tell he thought he was just so bold and edgy when he wrote it) is here:

If you decide to lecture us on how you, as a straight white male, are the real harassment victim here, you get a permanent ban from /r/magictcg.

I'd like to point out that two of the people who came forward are white males, but most of the community seems to care most about the female cosplayer.

The mod's comment boils down to anything representing a discussion of what happened, what it means, how the situation should be handled for everyone and the community, and anything that isn't blind sympathy or obviously in total support of the alleged victims will be met with a ban.

I liked the part where the moderator with all the power "stood up to me." He also muted me for 72 hours immediately following to guarantee he'd get the last word. Some paragons of virtue those moderators are.

Anyway, just thought I'd share.
