Having CCTV in your home for security purposes is perfectly legal, even in a bedroom. Ensure you have a sign by your front door declaring "CCTV" in operation. Don't move images around or onto your phone etc. Use and store video only for security purposes. Protecting yourself against false rape allegations is a valid reason.

No one has ever recommended filming people to prove consent. That wasn't discussed on this subreddit.

Recording some audio has been. But not filming the sex act.

He was convicted because he was using the recordings for sexual gratification. The police secretly record and openly record. For example strip searches are always recorded. Often police secretly record in toilets and changing rooms. No sexual motive so it is fine.

If you do secretly record it has to be solely for protection from a false allegation of rape and not for a sexual purpose.

So you cannot tell anyone or show anyone the recording. (this is what he did).

So it would need to be encrypted. It would need to be securely stored. You could not regularly view it. You absolutely could not show anyone. You are absolutely correct you need to be careful. The only reason to make a recording would be for your protection from a false allegation not a sexual motive.

This guy was creating stills of the films and moving them around devices so probably it was a sexual motive.

Actually you could write to Police and request they tell you what steps you must take to secretly record and store sexual encounters for your own protection. That would be interesting. Then follow their advice.

How can we get this man out of jail, we need to do something, we need to do it now. I read the article3 times, this is disgusting. They are charging him for crimes that he didnt do, nor punishment that fits the bill.
