I am shocked at the number of people that don't understand why the OP posted this. People can't be that dense unless it is willingly.

[–]Rethgil 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes i agree. Though whenever we get a sharp post that undemines classic feminist myths, such as the wage gap myth here, we always get a few feminist trolls and derailers using fake naïveté to claim they "dont see the relevance" or tone police to stop things and so on

yes, because more people are willing to see female models.

I have no problem with this in the same way I have no problem with the prize winnings being hugely more for male sports.

If you want to make the point that women get paid more than men, Id use the "lesbian premium" research.

Women that work like men are paid more and promoted more quickly.

https://bigthink.com/dollars-and-sex/what-explains-the-lesbian-wage-premium

I just had a quick look for you but I couldn't find the article - Warren Farrell compiled a list of industries that pay women more. Truck Driving stood out, 20 - 25% better pay for women if I remember right.

[–]dumpster_arsonist 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Anybody who has ever been self employed or run a company knows that there is no such thing as the wage gap. Its been proven to be fake or at least much more complicated than "females make less."

The bottom line is this: The bottom line. Get it? Nobody is going to pay somebody any more than they can get away with. I'm not handing out raises to people just for fucking fun. I have a business to run and partners to please. Do I pay people what they are worth? ABSOLUTELY. How do I know? Because I pay them as much as it takes for them not to leave. That's what they are worth.

Sometimes, it takes less money to keep women happy and THATS the wage gap. That's what it boils down to. Women are more likely to settle for less money.

The funny thing is that by propagating this myth and constantly pointing out that women deserve to be paid equally...you are dooming women (and men) to capping the earning potential of each job so that "nobody is paid higher than anyone else."

Its dumb, it stifles competition, and it fosters a false sense of job security. Buy you already all know this. Fuck the wage gap MYTH. I hate it and I hate it when someone suggests I am -ist (sex, race, class...etc). I treat everyone like a number EQUALLY.

[+]bluejumpingdog1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (16 children) | Copy Link

This is stupid and no relevant to mens rights The fact is that women models pull a lot more money than male models. Is stupid to expect them to make the same money Is like if you created a football league for women and then demand that the women team to make as much money as their male counterparts

[–]Surtysurt 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Women use this logic all the time. Even when clearly less significant figures in their field, like actors.

[+]bluejumpingdog1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes, but that doesn't mean that you have to make a stupid point just because some else did,

[–]letsgetfunkymonkey 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Pointing out the hypocrisy of feminist is half the point of Men's Rights. Until you stop the erosion of men's rights that feminists are advocating for, you can't even start working on equality.

[–]Rethgil 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are you trying deliberately to play naive? Its not being stupid, its illustration of the fallacy of their logic of the wage gap claims. Its that simple.

Are you seriously still denying thats a fair and valid counter point??

[–]Mode1961 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A much more accurate analogy would be

"What if we created a tennis tournament and we will call it Wimbelton, the men plays 5 sets, the women play 3 sets, the mens tickets are more expensive and they sell a lot more, the ad revenue is way higher for men and since they play 5 sets there is more air time AND then women will demand they be paid the same"

OH WAIT. that is already being done.

[–]Zepherite 24 points25 points26 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's relevant as a counter-point to the prevailing 'common knowledge' that women are underpaid compared to men.

I don't think anybody here thinks this is wrong. Modelling is a market place like any other and there is more demand for female models so that's where the money is.

However were the roles of the men and women reversed there would be hell to pay. See the recent bbc wage gap shenanigans where the male presenters (who are in more demand) are paid more than the female ones.

It highlights a double standard that 'equality' only applies for women and no one gives a shit about men. That has everything to do with men's rights as it highlights an area where there is an inequality to men's detriment.

[–]nforne 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The BBC once did a piece on the male model wage gap, published on Newsbeat, which is specifically aimed at its teen audience.

You can't help but admire them. By addressing this (non-) issue it makes them look like they're being fair to everyone.

[–]letsgetfunkymonkey 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

if you created a football league for women and then demand that the women team to make as much money as their male counterparts

Yeah. That's a completely ludicrous, ridiculous, incomprehensible, unimaginable, unrealistic, unbelievable ides. No one would ever do that

[–]Rethgil 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Im going to create a football league for monkeys then demand my team get equal wages with the top stars regardless of viewing figures, attendence numbers or anything else. Its clearly unfair if they dont get the same. Simian rights!

[–]letsgetfunkymonkey 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How offensive! Did you just compare elite, female soccer players to monkeys!?!!??

Feminist journalist:

Hey Ronda Rousey, you're a woman... tell us how terrible it is that women soccer players get less than men...

[–]aokusman 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Have you not heard of womens soccer players comparing their pay to the male players and complaining?

[–]Rethgil 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Then youve had your head buried in the sand too long. Ive had a feminist whine to me about the imaginary wage gap myth and this op is a classic example that illustrates the flawed premise of the feminist myth.

I will literally be copypasting this post to send to her to help illustrate and prove my point as it has hard figures and examples.

So im sorry you claim it has no relevance and wish to tone police.

But you are completely wrong.

Just browsed briefly and you never post in the mra sub.Given that this post hasnt been big enough to cross over to the main subs it seems a bit odd.

M wondering if your personal politics affects your post? You post a lot against Republicans, im not a huge fan either but i put that stuff aside for mens rights. I couldnt tell if you consider yourself a transvestite or transsexual from other things. But do you feel this is linked to your views on mems rights, or are you new to the sub?

[+]bluejumpingdog1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

haha You get that Im a transvestite or a transexual because I disagree with the post I understand now that this isa sub for the alt-right thanks for the private messages I won’t be posting here anymore

[–]jrackow 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow, one person disagrees and it's alt right.

[+]BasiliskofNight1 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (6 children) | Copy Link

I feel like this is just demand. More people want women modeling and so they get paid more, vice versa for the men

Could be wrong though

[–]Rethgil 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Missing the point

[–]joedevice 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No I think it is just demand. Same way male sports players get paid more to play sports than woman of the equivalent level in the same sport.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I feel like this is just demand. More people want women modeling and so they get paid more, vice versa for the men

Well done, you've just unwittingly described why the wage gap is a myth.

[–]dumpster_arsonist -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You could literally apply this to any job and most of the time be labeled as sexist. Watch:

"I feel like this is just demand. More people want men doing their accounting and so they get paid more, vice versa for the women."

"I feel like this is just demand. More people want men to run their technology department and so they get paid more, vice versa for the women."

"I feel like this is just demand. More people want men hanging their drywall and so they get paid more, vice versa for the women."

[+]BasiliskofNight1 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, accounting, tech and drywall isn't really focused on the body

[–]dumpster_arsonist -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're right, and modeling isn't really focused on skill, and advertising isn't really focused on woodworking. What's your point? If we are to say that men and women should have the same pay for doing the same job, then demand can't matter. That's the whole point, its ludicrous. Demand should be the only thing that matters and every human deserves to try to make what they are worth. Inventing these dumb handicaps is just stifling actual competition.

[–]EricAllonde 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've often said: the feminists who complain about the gender wage gap should lead by example and go fix the gender wage gap in modelling. If they do, I promise I'll take an open minded look at the solution they came up with and consider supporting a wider rollout of it.

No feminist has ever been willing to even discuss the idea with me: nothing but immediate blocks and bans when I've brought it up. Seems like the idea is triggering to them.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As if women spent 90% and men 10% of all money that is used to buy clothes! But I read somewhere that it's more like 80% and 20%.

[–]superduperdudertudor 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

different clientele, different ad campaigns, different market reach, etc, etc. The reverse of this would be the argument for female athletes being paid as much as their male counterparts when their team brings in a quarter of the revenue.

[–]joedevice 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have no problem with this in the same way I have no problem with the prize winnings being hugely more for male sports.

So what?
