I hope someone in this debate is going to probe the core question: just what benefits are supposedly conferred by "male privilege"?

We can tell that male privilege doesn't help at all when it comes to:

life expectancy
risk of experiencing violence during your lifetime
risk of dying at work
risk of dying during wartime
risk of dying from suicide
odds of seeing your kids after divorce
right to genital integrity (ref circumcision)
harsh treatment by the criminal justice system, including but not limited to sentence length
academic performance at school
odds of attending university
receiving help and support after rape
odds of seeing your rapist arrested and punished
odds of facing false accusations of rape yourself
receiving help and support as a victim of domestic violence
odds of seeing your domestic abuser arrested and punished
odds of facing false accusations of domestic violence yourself
being demonised and abused by the media, politicians and half of society, merely for being born male

So what benefits exactly does male privilege supposedly confer upon men? Well, I imagine the feminists will claims things like:

reduced odds of being catcalled
reduced likelihood of feeling afraid (an entirely subjective and provable claim which is, in any case, entirely disconnected from reality. Women can and do feel afraid when they are perfectly safe or do very risky things without being afraid. In safe, wealthy western countries like Australia, female fear is very much a choice.)
improved odds of going into a STEM career - really just engineering and computer science, since there are large numbers of women in the rest of STEM. But oddly male privilege only works on those two fields and not every other degree-based career, because reasons.
increased earnings, though in addition to male privilege that also requires making a smart choice of career, working longer hours each week, staying the workforce without a break for decades, longer commuting times and various other sacrifices. We can't detect any actual contribution to earnings due to male privilege, among all those other factors, but surely it must be there, because feminists say it is.
increased odds of being elected to political office, even though we live in a democracy and women make up around 54% of voters, because reasons.

So, with all the pros and cons of "male privilege" laid out like that, would you choose to have it if given the option? In other words, would you choose to take the list of "benefits" claimed by feminists if it mean you also had to take the longer list of drawbacks? Or would you choose to hand back your "male privilege" and take neither?

EDIT: Also, watch out for the usual feminist sleight-of-hand when it comes to causes. They will claim that all of the supposed "benefits" (e.g. higher average incomes for men, more male CEOs, more male politicians) are due to men oppressing women/systematic sexism in society/etc - i.e., some nonsense that leaves women entirely without any responsibility for outcomes and puts the blame squarely and entirely onto men.

In other words, women earning less isn't because they choose careers in childcare over engineering, it's that sexist, oppressing men, in the form of the patriarchy, somehow forced women in to lower paying careers. Or just decided to pay lower wages in the industries that women congregate in.

But as soon as you point to an area where women are doing better, such as attending university or suicide or child custody, they will argue that the current outcome is entirely valid and justified because men are less capable, ethically inferior and/or self-sabotaging.

They'll spin on a dime when you switch from talking about female disadvantage to male disadvantage, so be ready for it.

The feminist rule is: deny the agency of disadvantaged women; treat them like passive, helpless objects and blame their circumstances entirely on external oppression, mostly by men.

At the same time: reinforce the agency of disadvantaged men and victim-blame them and them alone for their circumstances.

Hack Live - Is Male Privilege Bullsh!t?

Being familiar with Hack, I'd imagine that title's there purely as clickbait.

We're led to believe it's about the idea of male privilege being bullshit, but really it's about the "fact" that males have "privilege" is bullshit.

Some things I haven't been able to find such as I remember somebody saying there was a study something about how men would treat women they treat Men ,women where more likly to view those man as hostility sexist.

Don't have a link to the study, unfortunately, but it's rather telling that women who seek to fill the same roles as men in society then also demand that those roles be changed to suit them...think about all the cries for more women CEOs who then demand the roles be tailored to their life.

It's important to note that all subjects of the masters thesis (Amy Yeung), not just women, found that men who treat women equally are hostilely sexist.

I would try to focus on privileges granted by law or government policy. It's very hard to argue about something that is written in black and white.

Male privilege in Australia? My time to shine! When it comes to family violence, men are treated like second class citizens in Australia. Some citations:

Victims of family homicide are 40% male

The 2016 Royal Commission into Family Violence concluded that there is a high social toleration of family violence against men, that men struggle to convince police of their victim status, and that there is a lack in services supporting male victims (Volume 5, Section 32, pages 205-212). Some crime data statistics (tend to underestimate male victims, but still) in that link, notably:

1) 1 in 4 victims (who made a report to police and were treated seriously) were male.

2) The majority of male victims were abused by a female intimate partner.

Australian family violence services for men assume that the men seeking help are perpetrators rather than victims

There is a large body of literature showing that domestic violence is gender-symmetric and most commonly reciprocal rather than uni-directional.

In spite of the above, the RREiS program in Victoria is spending tens of millions of dollars teaching school-aged kids and school educators to ignore male victims and disbelieve their reality. Longer comment with citations.
