I believe that she will re-offend and likely, kill someone.

There is some means of protesting to the court on a sentence that is overly harsh or lenient in the UK. I hope that someone does that.

We did see the same sympathy expressed by the judgement when the young swimmer Brock assaulted the drunk woman who hit on him at a party. We can't deny pity for one and not the other.

On the up side, she will attack a future partner and get slammed in jail immediately for that =)

I'm a guy (check my history if you don't believe me) but i sort of understand where this judge is coming from in a sense, it would be a horrible waste for her to go to jail for a few years and be unable to practice medicine (as far as i know you will be barred from ever participating after a criminal charge like this). Yes she did stab some dude while drunk, albeit in the leg ("it doesn't matter where she stabbed him!"), well it kinda does, she didn't stab him in the chest or in the face, theres a huge difference.

I don't think she should be devoid of punishment though, she should be seriously reprimanded, say like 5000 hours community service cleaning up toilets/bathrooms/showers in the local prison (at least this way she can see what she's missing and be thankful of the different charge) or wiping homeless/elderly people's assholes. You know, really unfun community work.
