This is literally indistinguishable from a "Whites only" sign...

family-friendly
...as long as you're a single mom with a daughter.

I'm guessing they allow little boys, but I take your point.

I wonder what the cut-off age would be, and how they would explain it.

My local gym has refused to any male/female only classes (they run like circuit training classes 3 times a week as well as the normal gym stuff.
The owner told me over a beer that he's seen an up tick in women; turns out women like checking out fit muscular men during rest periods

More gender "equality". /s

Of course "family friendly" is pure bullshit, but I don't see anything wrong with women-only gyms per se. It's probably even a lucrative business model that attracts a lot of lesbians and women too shy to visit a regular gym. And they save money because they don't need gender separated restrooms and locker rooms.
However, imagine the outcry if the genders were switched.

It's more lucrative because women will sign up, and hardly ever use the facilities at a far greater rate them men do... or use them far less.

If there are no gyms around that you can use within a specific radius, you can sue them for gender discrimination.

I wish I had the resources or motivation to sue.
[–]Rasalom72 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If you have a motivation problem, perhaps you don't really need a gym...

I'm not sure what you're getting at.
Yeah, you can ban a specific demographic from your business without it being discrimination, as long as that demographic is cis-men.
