You're very much living in the past and I suspect that's the reason why there's anyone in existence still supporting or voting for Labour or claiming that left wing causes are actually good for people.

Any yet they have been significantly reduced.

Technology has also increased dramatically and so has the safety methods, do you honestly think it was just purely a regulatory bill pushed through by Labour that magically fixed everything?

I watched a documentary on metal welding awhile back and you can see from the 90's just how much things have changed particularly safety wise. We've gone from bolting together entire buildings with molten bolts which were tossed over to people wearing gloves while they were still hot to using electricity and relatively safe arc welders to fuse metal together.

It was technology that reduced the deaths at work, not the fucking Labour party, you're trying to give them credit for something they didn't earn.

Well that's fairly easy to test. The US generally has access to a slightly greater level of technology than the UK. US has a higher death rate in equivalent industries. So crediting it all to technology isn't supported by the evidence.

"total public sector debt" for a single year isn't how you measure a surplus. A surplus is where a goverment spent less in a single financial year than it took in. The you want on the blog you linked to is "net borrowing under labour" which you will note went negative in the late 90s.

You're trying to compare the death rates with the U.K to the U.S which has an insanely large population compared to the U.K so of course the death rates are going to be different just because of the amount of people living there, it's not actually as simple as you make it out to be.

I'll grant you that one, yes, it went negative in the 90's but you're acting as if that automatically absolves Labour just for that extremely short period.

The Labour Party was last in government from 1997 to 2010 under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, beginning with a landslide majority of 179, reduced to 167 in 2001 and 66 in 2005. Having won 232 seats at the 2015 general election, the party is the Official Opposition in the Parliament of the United Kingdom.

The Labour party was still in power after the late 90's and that was when they began running a deficit again, so really that surplus you're talking about while it existed was nothing more than a blip taking into account the generations that have had to cope with massive amounts of debt generally. Worse still Gordon Brown sold 40% of the UK's gold reserves which drastically devalues a currency as there is nothing backing it.

Corpses drive safety methods, as much as left wingers might like to claim otherwise that employers are all evil corporations, even corporations can't deal with large losses on any spectrum. Especially when it comes to the fact that you could potentially have very skilled and specialised workers in dangerous areas that took years to train, people learn from their mistakes and they've introduced new technology to make life safer and easier for people when working.

Err good? One of the major problems with the UK economy in that period was the high value of the pound. Of course strangely selling part of the gold reserves didn't actualy lower it.

Of course they can. Just look at any shipping company in the 19th century or pretty much any company operating in the tropics. Corporations have historicaly been quite good at dealing with high attrition rates.

The countries are just so fucking different in those aspects I suspect that any attempt to average this rate is fundamentally dishonest. it's like trying to compare gun deaths between the U.S and U.K which amazingly is something people actually try to do when debating. Let's not resort to gender pay gap style mathematics I'm begging you.

A high pound value is a good thing not a bad thing, while it makes things expensive for outside countries it drastically lowers the cost of living within a country. You know the ridiculous housing prices in the UK? Yeah, that's a result of inflation and the devaluation of the pound, you can't enjoy a growing economy if everything becomes too expensive to live in due to a weakening currency and that's what's been happening to generations which is why that little surplus you mentioned is rather irrelevant.

Attrition rates means there's no growth and no profits, sure, they might be able to deal with it just like anyone can that adjusts to hard times it doesn't mean that it's to their benefit when it does.

With how terrified corporations are of being sued by people for negligence in such situations surely you know that's not necessarily correct. Again, my main issue is with the idea that Labour has genuinely achieved anything, the natural progression of individual rights and technology is what has decreased the accident rates, not some stupid piece of paper.
