You can't expect society to change overnight. I hope things will change, but it's been like this for quite some time and I think it will continue to be like this for yet another while.

All we can do is to politely inform anyone who will be patient enough to simply listen to what we have to say: if they are decent human beings they will understand our views, even if they will not actively join the cause.

When they turn fourteen they're automatically considered combatants in any conflict zone. When global agencies refuse to give food to males that includes boys too.

Boko Haram kidnapped 10,000 boys and the world remained silent
The Wall Street Journal published an article detailing the extent of Boko Haram’s cruelty against boys. I previously wrote about how the terrorist group spent the better part of 2013 murdering hundreds of men and boys in Nigeria.These acts made some international news, but it was only when Boko Haram kidnapped 197 girls that the world took major notice of the group.
The mothers of some of the girls created the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls, which went viral. First Lady Michelle Obama famously tweeted a picture of herself holding a sign with the hashtag written on it. Yet during that time Boko Haram continued to murder scores of men and boys. Shortly before and after kidnapping the girls, the group when on a killing spree, the latter of which resulted in about 400 men and boys, including infants, being slaughtered.
This received limited news coverage, yet nowhere near the amount of social media attention that the kidnapping of 200 girls received. What does our apathy buy us? What comes of this level of utter indifference to boys’ suffering?
The irony writes itself. When the girls were kidnapped, I and many others noted that hundreds of boys had been killed and yet there was no hashtag campaign about them. The response, largely from progressives, was that it was bad the boys were killed, but they were already dead and the girls were still alive. Now, there are thousands of kidnapped boys we know of, yet the majority of the media coverage is on the unspecified number of injured and dead girls (who could have been injured and killed by Boko Haram).
Nothing better illustrates how little we care about boys this situation. When the boys are dead we do not care, and when they are alive we do not care.

Well said. Nobody reports the vast numbers and majority of male victims. And when some media outlets do, nobody reads it. This alone proves how society has normalized treating male deaths as acceptable and female deaths in any numbers as totally different

Two A/B comparative scenarios. First;

A) male electrician is electrocuted on the job. Page 8 headline will be "Electrician dies after fatal shock on the job" or something.

B) female electrician is electrocuted on the job. Page 1 or 2 headlines will be "Mother of three electrocuted; Worker safety laws ineffective for women in male dominant trades"

Men are reduced to what they do, not who they are.

Second scenario;

A) Ten people, five men and five women, are killed in a terror bombing on a train. Headline would read "Ten commuters killed in bombing"

B) Ten people, all women, are killed in a similar terror attack. Headline would read "Terrorist bombing kills ten women"

Gender is only a factor worth mentioning when it's female tragedy.

The situation in Nigeria is still going on and is still awful. But to not give a shit about the boys being brutally slaughtered and only caring about #bringbackourgirls is completely disgusting.

Eh its an African civil war. Not give a shit is pretty much the default western response. Massacring some group of civilians or other isn't exactly unusual (see DRC) nor is kidnapping children in general (kidnapped child soldiers was a popular leftist cause in the 90s). Large scale single sex kidnapping is less usual.
