Thank you for introducing me to this subreddit, I posted this and yes, It was terrible how it was met instantly with laughter. I felt really bad for a moment there while they all were laughing..

In the Youtube comments, you mentioned that you were going to push harder next week. Whatever you do, don't make it a "men vs women" discussion. If they say "women face ABC" don't follow up with "yeah but men face XYZ". Don't argue with them because they won't be open to your suggestions. If they talk about an issue that women face, don't bring up a statistic about men facing the same issue. They won't take well to that (they'll think you're arguing against them or something). Talk about different issues, preferably those unique to men.

Go along with what they say, and when you have a chance to speak just suggest something very specific. Anything that you want to talk about that specifically relates to the men at your school. Just make sure both sides get out there.

And if they ask why you're so focused on men's issues and not on women's issues, just point out that it's because you're a man and so the issues hit closer to home. Point out that women's issues stand out to them more because they're women, and men's issues just happen to stand out to you more because you're a man.

"And I think that's a good thing, because it lets us see things that we might not otherwise see."

In other words, don't "infiltrate" the club. Aim to become part of it and make it better.

I know this was one of the comments on the YouTube video, but it just angers me how what the guy brought up is instantly met with laughter. They could be accepting of a very good point he was trying to bring up, but nope.

A lack of due process tends to expel more men than women from colleges, and women are earning more degrees from college than men. There are more scholarships exclusively for women than there are exclusively for men even though men have a tougher time than women. Also, the pressures of college leading to suicide impact men more than women. Those are some of the issues that could have been mentioned (although in a different way than I did here).

Also, one point I have used effectively with people is that their initial reaction of laughter towards men's rights shows what an issue they are. Often times the greatest issues are not considered seriously by society, and that's exactly what makes them serious issues. If a problem is not even diagnosed, how is it to be solved? I did notice that they right away jump to the argument that "there are serious issues but...", and that shows they know they can't pretend men don't have issues any longer. We're causing them to change their arguments because we are winning the public over.

I love it how they automatically shunt it right from "men's rights issues" into casually slipping a hate mention in there.

At the school?

Is it a 60%+ female majority student body?

Is there no proper due process for accusations of impropriety for students?

Is there a disparity in the availability of scholarships?
