Actor Peter Capaldi is stepping down from the lead role in the BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who.

In his interview, Capaldi assured listeners that he is still Doctor Who at the moment, as filming in ongoing.

Here's the thing. The main characters for the last few years of Doctor Who have not been the doctor, but his female companion.

Me and my wife liked Rose. It was Rose's relationship with the doctor, and how that affected him that was a focus of the show.

Donna Noble and Martha were good (man... my heart broke with what happened to Donna).

Then it was the Amy Pond show.

Now it's all about Clara.

If the Doctor becomes female, maybe the main plot will be about the doctor again. That would be a nice change.

I wouldn't have a problem if they made the Doctor a woman. I really wouldn't. The regeneration process does leave the door open to the possibility. But the idea of forcing a female Doctor is wrong.
