I have seen a lot over the last decade or so lawmakers/judges who while debating a law they seem to justify their stance based on the best women and the worst men.

e.g. In Canada a few years ago a law was passed that allowed a woman (and only women) to put her child up for adoption without the fathers consent if she was raped. This does not apply to men because in the words of one lawmaker "Some men would abuse this law to take a child away from its mother". This to me is but one example of laws that are passed on the premise that men would abuse the law but women wouldn't.

Another example is the debate on LPS (Legal Parental Surrender), it seems that those that object to it seem to justify it again by stated that some men would abuse it and therefore we can't take the chance in passing such a law.

What do you folks think. Is society run this way or am I just OTFL.
