I pretty much imagine the interview going like so:

Reporter: She says she meets all legal requirements for entry?

Spokesperson: Yes, that's true.

Reporter: But she was denied twice?

Spokesperson: Yes, no formal reason, we just don't like her.

Reporter: She says she is going to appeal this to a higher authority.

Spokesperson: She should, she'll probably win too. We just really don't like her.

[–]Valac_I whiteKnight for fatties 56 points57 points58 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I feel like that should be a legit reason to deny anyone.

"Can I move to your country? "

" No bitch you're annoying."

[–]weapawn 35 points36 points37 points 9 years ago (38 children) | Copy Link

God damn. How big of a twat do you have to be to get denied by the Swiss? They're like the Canada of fucking Europe.

[–]vrdeity[S] 15 points16 points17 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Those people are pretty chill, I can only imagine this lady had to have been unusually obnoxious. The article was funny. How entitled she must be to protest their culture and then request entry into it!

[–]Vipe777 23 points24 points25 points 9 years ago (31 children) | Copy Link

We have pretty strict immigration laws. If someone won't adopt to our culture, they're gone.

This bitch was all over the news here in Switzerland. She's a huge attentionwhore who thinks she's something special. Then she moves to a 3000 people village and tries to change their way of life. Switzerland doesn't work like this. Even if she would've gotten the citizenship, the whole country would've hated her until she would've left the country voluntarily

[–]nanoakron 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good! I think this attitude would stop everyone's concerns with immigration.

Want to move to Poland? Well, learn a bit of Polish and accept their Catholic heritage.

Moving to Indonesia? Maybe accepting their mixed Islamic-Hindu culture would go a long way.

When my father was stationed in Germany, we visited Switzerland pretty often. It was one of our favorite places to go since the people were fantastic.

[–]Vipe777 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

We're the most polite people you'll find, as long as you don't annoy us lol

[–]awwwwyehmutherfurk 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's appropriate, nice good people with a fan fucking tastic arms industry.

[–]Emma_Has_Swords 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

What's Swiss culture like?

[–]Vipe777 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It really depends where you are. When you're in Zurich (biggest city of Switzerland) I guess it's not much different than the smaller cities in the US (that's why the rest of Switzerland doesn't like Zurich).

When you're in a smaller city (Bern, my hometown, Thun, Luzern...) you really see the "Swiss culture".
Bern is a really good example. You have beautiful buildings filled with H&M's, Subways, Burger Kings, Mac's, expensive-looking jewellery stores, cute little restaurants, etc.

[–]AFWUSA 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Holy shit Bern is beautiful. All of Switzerland is. My goal in life is to one day move to Austria Switzerland or Germany, I am working on my German and have a really good understanding of their histories (mostly German and WW1 Austria but I'm working on expanding it). It makes total sense, you want to move to these places with rich histories and traditions? Well, get learning.

[–]Vipe777 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's a good mindset! I can't tell you how many foreign people move here, don't speak a single word german, don't know anythin about our culture, and just think it's all okay...

[–]DoxBox 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hey dude it's necroposting but hey why not.

Just wanted to say, Switzerland sounds awesome. If I had to choose any country other than Canada (where I live) to be, I'd choose Switzerland. Freedom, guns, everybody minds their own damn business... Sounds like heaven!

[–]Vipe777 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It really is! Plus one of the best education systems, the state helps you pay for your education if you can't pay it yourself, very nice paying jobs (though generally expensive living, so it evens it out I guess), and you don't get called a racist or nazi for standing up for your own country

[+]inspiron3000 -8 points-7 points-6 points 9 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

You are conservative cowards.
Can't handle that people have opinions that deviate from yours.

Denying her a right to participate in politics is a requirement to enforce the continued self-censorship of your population.

The Swiss do not have any moral high ground.

[–]Vipe777 15 points16 points17 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

We're cowards for keeping to our culture?

Let me guess, you're American, and liberal?

[+]inspiron3000 -6 points-5 points-4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are also a coward for ignoring what I wrote and deliberately misinterpreting it to avoid discussing the issue.

I've lived in Switzerland and your culture is not great.

[–]CynixCS 11 points12 points13 points 9 years ago* (15 children) | Copy Link

You are conservative cowards.

Yup. Apologies, we're not liberal enough to participate in thrashing our own neighbourhoods because we took offense at what somebody said about a completely unrelated topic and instead engage in lawful, democratic process.

Can't handle that people have opinions that deviate from yours.

It's hilarious. A comment crying about the result of a democratic vote accusing people of not being able to handle differing opinions because they're not the "right" opinions. QED I suppose.

Denying her a right

No, denying implies that this right had formerly been granted and has now been removed. We didn't deny anything, we refused to grant.

to participate in politics

She's not Swiss, she doesn't get to vote in Switzerland. If mylady wants to participate in the democratic process, she's free to move back to her own country.

is a requirement

How? Elaborate.

to enforce the continued self-censorship of your population.

QED, leftie speaking about muh freeze peach.

[–]Vipe777 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

That's gotta be the nicest, best written out burn I've ever witnessed.

[–]CynixCS 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

It's fairly tragic though. For how much they like to portrait themselves as independent-minded, well-educated thinkers, their ideas are pathetically similar all the way through. Muh racism, muh misogyny, need feminism, white people bad, safe spaces, trigger warnings, muh Hillary breaking the glass ceiling blah blah blah... Actions have consequences? OMG no please help! takes a sip from a Starbucks beverage

It's not hard to make that look ridiculous...

[–]Vipe777 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That's true (sadly). I am so happy to live in Switzerland. And I seriously hope this trend of "being a special snowflake" doesn't swap over to this country in the future...

[–]SavagelyFists 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No kidding, Switzerland sounds fantastic. As a Texan, I like guns and Europe is a little odd about firearm ownership but I'll visit Switzerland someday

[–]Vipe777 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As a Texan, I like guns

Hahaha you're gonna love it here. If you got a clean record and are over 18, you're pretty much free to buy any legal weapon you want. It's very very expensive though (-> Switzerland), but it's beautiful; nobody complains about gun laws, and nobody wants to take away your guns.

[–]CynixCS 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They already have that crap over in England. Let's hope it stays the way it is - exclusive to the anglosphere.

[–]inspiron3000 -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

It was so poor, I couldn't be bothered answering it.

QED?

[–]Vipe777 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You're just here to piss everyone off with your stupidity, am I right?

[–]inspiron3000 -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No you are not right.
Calling me stupid doesn't impress me. It confirms that you are an arrogant coward.

[–]Singdancetypethings 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How is literally saying it to your face (or since we're on Reddit, the closest online analogue) translate to being a coward?

[–]inspiron3000 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can call you stupid.
It doesn't make it true unless I provide compelling evidence.

He doesn't want to argue with reason. I call that cowardice.
He follows up by calling me stupid. I call that cowardice, too.

[–]inspiron3000 -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Yup. Apologies, we're not liberal enough to participate in thrashing our own neighbourhoods because we took offense at what somebody said about a completely unrelated topic and instead engage in lawful, democratic process.

Fake apology. Not sincere. Sarcasm detected. Gaslighting and obfuscation shows that you do not want to debate this.

It's hilarious. A comment crying about the result of a democratic vote accusing people of not being able to handle differing opinions because they're not the "right" opinions. QED I suppose.

Not crying here. You are inventing this by distorting my words to fit your opinions.

No, denying implies that this right had formerly been granted and has now been removed. We didn't deny anything, we refused to grant.

You punish someone for having unpopular opinions by denying a person full citizens rights.
You are telling people who come to your country that they must censor themselves and not have political opinions that go against your "values", if they have any desire to become naturalised citizens in the future.
That is denying them a right to free speech and opinion.

She's not Swiss, she doesn't get to vote in Switzerland. If mylady wants to participate in the democratic process, she's free to move back to her own country.

She married Swiss, lived in Switzerland for most of her life (30 of 42 years), given birth to Swiss people.
She has little freedom to move back to "her own country".

QED, leftie speaking about muh freeze peach.

If you want to be taken seriously then you could do better than spewing nonsense and arrogantly dismissing people.
Also, taking my words and breaking them up in chunks does not make for intelligent discourse, especially when you ignore what I write (EDIT: spelling).

Your reluctance to address what I wrote seriously, proves my point of cowardice.

[–]Vipe777 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You answered to my comment that the burn comment is so bad you didn't even bother answering it, yet here you are.

[–]CynixCS 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Leave it be, it's already angry enough. :)

[–]inspiron3000 -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I changed my mind when I noticed your arrogant followup.

[–]Powdershuttle 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Would you like to house some third world cave apes? I mean you are so open to cultures. Prove it.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

A vegan woman

That says it all.

BTW, How can you tell if a person is a vegan?

You don't, they'll tell you!

[–]Powdershuttle 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

True, but it's a well worn joke. It was funny 8 years ago.

[–]SlowWing 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hmmm, no they're not. They're extremely conservative, insular and xenophobic.

[–]WyoVolunteer 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

[–]Shisno_ 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good. It's their country, and it's their right to deny anyone entry on any basis.

[–]RealBlazeStorm 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This reminds me of the Black Pete/Zwarte Pieten stuff, expect here they prevent the tradition-basher to get into the country. Smart, thinking ahead

[–]Begginerwhitewater points 9 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

What a annoying twat, hope she moves back to dutch land with her stupid cat and gets fucked to deatg by horse because she is so vegan

[–]Powdershuttle 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wonder if her cat is forced to be unnaturally vegan too.

[–]CynixCS 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, she's been on a crusade (founding organisations and so on) against all sorts of things from cowbells to churchtower bells, general vegan craptivism...

Pleasant little lady. It's funny because this is the second time her citizenship application was denied.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is a CNN article so I doubt it's true. Or a stretch of the truth at the very least.

[–]ManicMuffin 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

the rejection was "on the basis that a person who sets themselves against so many of Switzerland's shared values, practices and traditions, and does this in person, directly and above all, loudly, in the press, should not be granted citizenship."

Can we appreciate the fucking Swiss Citizenship Laws. Based AF.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The Swiss remain amazingly based in this current shitstorm of idiocy and entitlement.

[–]Booker545 -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I'm gonna be that guy. You took the top story from the front page and posted it here less than 2 days after it got over 100k views in r/nottheonion.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And?

[–]Booker545 -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

?

[–]vrdeity[S] 14 points15 points16 points 9 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

You are right, you are 'that guy'. You are the posterchild for what is wrong with Reddit. That pedantic snipe, expecting all contributors to be subscribed to all of the same subs as you and to have kept up with all of them is petty and weak sauce.

Your behavior serves only a negative purpose, typifying the trollish attitude seen as acceptable here. As a fellow redditor, what is the appropriate response? Shall i whip out the Lebowski meme? Shall i subscribe to r/nottheonion and beg for forgiveness? Do you feel good after your comment?

I suppose my response will be to simply thank you for your input and respectfully recommend that you go outside and play for a while.

[–]Powdershuttle 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thank you. This is the first time I have seen it.

I actually don't get on Reddit for days at a time. It's liberating, I know.

You are very smart! It must take real intelligence to take the top story from the last two days and post it on a different subreddit!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Not everyone reads r/all faggot.

[–]Booker545 -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I made that post 16 days ago retard. Keep up.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I know, I'm only saddened my life doesn't constantly revolve around reddit. Cya around, faggot.

[–]Jack-Hass -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Sharia is OK then? Just seems very weird given how many people they've let in of late...

[–]im_not_smart 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

let in != granting citizenship.

[–]Jack-Hass -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Does that matter to all the rape victims?

[–]TheTyke -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I hate feminism but I'm a vegan and animal lover and there's nothing wrong with being vocal about it. It's not a small issue, it's animals being killed and harmed.

[–]ManicMuffin 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's cool be vocal about your beliefs. But if you annoy people, don't expect them to give you citizenship.

[–]DanGoesOnline 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes annyoing, but not why she got rejected. She's vocally against cowbells (huge cultural thing here in Switzerland), churchbells (agin, rooting way back to the beginning) and other things I forgot.

If you want to become Swiss, you have to show that you are integrated. This lady shows pretty much the opposite by standing up against the very Swiss culture she is supposed to impress the people who decide about her with.
