I was once accused of sexual harassment. Not being pretty or popular, I was a typical loner. In a bus, I had taken an empty seat next to some girl I did not know or care about. Nothing happened and I left the bus at my destination. Late afternoon, two furious parents were calling in at home. The girl probably got my number from people in my class who shared the bus. Then, I had to apologise and buy her chocolate. Only a great deal later did I realise what happened: I had threatened the girl's social status by sitting next to her! She probably would have literally thrown me under the bus if she could. There is, after all no evolutionary reason not to. Some man would always take care of her. Knowing that mere existence was enough (I did not even touch her, talk to her or look at her tits) for an accusation against which I had absolutely no defense was a grim lesson. As the world goes, no one cares to stand up for a "creep" without social capital. Rumours kept spreading for quite a while. I was only lucky in one sense: I was 12. What would have happened in the same situation a few years later?

So my response is: Fuck no. You are not entitled to my respect and I don't take sexual harassment seriously. At all.

While this can't lead to prosecution, it may lead to a witch hunt. Women all over the world are complaining about being groped in public places. There is no way to verify if there is any truth to it. It may become necessary for men to find alternate transportation.
