If you believe in equality of the sexes, you're an MRA by default.

I can believe in equality without being a feminist.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Exactly. Feminism is a far left pseudo Marxist ideology involving concepts such as “the patriarchy”, “rape culture” etc. Acceptance of these ideas is quite separate from the simple belief that men and women should have the same social and legal rights.

far left pseudo Marxist ideology

Nothing far left about an ideology that constantly attacks the male proletariat while increasing privilege for an already over-privileged sex. You got the "pseudo" right, though.

That stupid argument is like: You like kids? You are a pedophile then.

[–]foxyramirez 15 points16 points17 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If I remember correctly, he actually responded with "yes, I could identify as a second wave feminist".

[–]Lethn 19 points20 points21 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's all desperation, they know they're completely losing grip on people so they try to make these stupid statements about people. It would be funny if it weren't for the fact that these nutters genuinely believe this and try to drag everybody else into their idiotic cult by screaming that caring about equality means you're a feminist.

They're trying to put us all into a position where agreeing with them is the only option a 'reasonable' person would make but completely forget the fact we all have free will.

You know, I used to think that as well. But I honestly think most of these "journalists" believe the crap they say.

[–]Lethn 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wasn't saying they didn't, but they're at least smart enough to know when people simply don't care about what they think which is why they're behaving like they are now.

[–]serial_crusher 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Everybody who wants anything good is a feminist. Everybody who wants something bad is a misogynist.

[–]iongantas 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I want pie. Am I a feminist or a misogynist?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Clearly you're objectifying women by wanting their "pie" you misogynistic shitlord. Check thy privilege!

Are you a man and have you ever watched a musical? Then you are transexual.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've watched quite a few musicals. And operas. Haven't felt any strange urges yet.

Unfortunately much of it's a bit dated. Stuff such as Gilbert and Sullivan was quite raunchy in it's time. Wagner is just one long orgy of beastiality, incest and huge tits.

I miss those days.

[–]ThePigmanAgain 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah, but the problem is that we believe in equality for women, and feminists do not -- they believe in supremacy for women.

[–]BDMR_lurker 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She wonderfully illustrates how much difference makeup, good lighting and a fresh hairdo make.

Other than that, what use is she exactly?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't forget , AND Photoshop.

[–]iongantas 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, I do not believe in equality "for women". I believe in equality for everyone.

[–]ReaverXXI 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Okay, I know this is off topic as hell, but as a german I can only laugh at the notion that Angela Merkel is a feminist. Angela fucking Merkel is against gay marriage for gods sake... amongst other things. Oh wait, letting 2+ million refugees into the country most likely was worth more browny points, nevermind... -.-

[–]RobDog101 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's like saying "So you're actually a Communist." It's absurd for a tiny, tiny (yet admittedly influential) ideological minority to appropriate values that nearly everyone holds and say "We actually invented this and it's the only thing that you need to believe to be part of our group so you are one of us even if you find us all fucking reprehensible." That isn't how language works! The meanings and implications of words cannot be dictated by tiny clubs of academics and media cunts who disagree with common usage.

One thing I always wondered is: why do these people always look like the exact type to take part in such nonsense?

Who do you think is preventing men from getting

1) Equal rights to being a parent - Answer: Feminists

2) Equal rights to see their children upon divorce - Answer feminists , (See the NOW statement on shared parenting)

3) Equal rights to money to prevent DV against men, Answer Feminists

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Feminists recognise all problems with their "equality" if it turns against them. Here is a recent case of feminist women against rape on men being a crime because there could be false accusations: http://www.jpost.com/Israel/Womens-groups-Cancel-law-charging-women-with-rape

[–]Badgerz92 -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And if that gets posted to the sub nobody would complain. But this thread has nothing to do with male victims of rape, it's just whining about feminism and has nothing to do with men's rights

[–]serial_crusher 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think it's fair to say a toxic subset of feminists are doing that--even the majority of them--but it's reasonable to say that ragging on them because they're feminists (instead of focusing on specific issues) isn't helping anyone.

It's fun to blow off steam sometimes though.

[–]LethiasWVR 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The problem with the argument that a toxic subset of feminists is responsible is that the most toxic of them are the ones lobbying to keep the laws cited by \u\x-system the same.
They are the ones teaching gender studies classes that drill patriarchy theory, rape culture theory, and other man=bad rhetoric into the heads of students. They are the ones in positions of government bemoaning, for example, that Women are the primary victims of war".
Furthermore, it's basically enabled by all the ones who will blindly tell you "But not all feminists are like that" as the subset of toxic ones gains more control over the classroom, the government policy, the media.
That said, I very much agree that ragging on them accomplishes nothing, but I think it very much behooves us to demonstrate this pattern to others who may not yet realize that feminism's stated goals and its actual practice are in conflict, to the detriment of not only men, but often of women, too.

[–]Badgerz92 -3 points-2 points-1 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Does the OP post talk about feminist views on reproductive rights? Does the OP post talk about feminist views on child custody? Does the OP post talk about feminist views on DV? Then why are you bringing that up? This isn't a post criticizing those views it's a post that's just whining about feminism for the sake of it. This sub is supposed to be /r/mensrights not /r/antifeminism and posts like these just drive people away and aren't constructive at all

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm 100% anti-feminist because they're the single biggest obstacle to furthering men's rights (and their ideology is a misandrist, repulsive cult of bullying and victimhood that sets ordinary people against each other.)

I can't talk for anyone else.

Watch the Red Pill and tell me that feminism and men's rights can coexist peacefully.

[–]iongantas 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Insofar as feminism is against the rights of men, it's pretty much a default position that we are against feminism.

[+]Badgerz92 -6 points-5 points-4 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Unfortunately there is a lot of just anti-feminist circle-jerking these days. I actually recently raised this issue in this thread and it looks like a lot of other users support making /r/mensrights a men's rights sub instead of just an anti-feminist sub, but unfortunately the mods think posts like this are fine.

Somebody in that thread was asking for a specific example of an anti-feminist post that has nothing to do with men's rights... I think I'll link this one, because it doesn't get more blatant than this

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Angela Merkel has never been very interested in feminism. I hate her guts, but should be objective there.
