So if you're dealing with a crazy psycho like this, lock her out of the door and get her out of the building where she has fewer ways of killing herself and getting it blamed on you, then she's the police's problem and not yours

An adult is responsible for their own actions, even if they're a woman.

If he pushed her out of his apartment, maybe she'd have walked into traffic just afterwards. Without her handbag and mobile phone, would she have had "no other option" than to stumble into traffic, after he forcibly evicted her?

I mean, it would be nice if he could have called the cops, and they could have handled the situation, probably by arresting him and letting her trash his apartment. I don't see any other way he could deal with her without her being in some kind of danger, if she chose to act irresponsibly.

Why was he recording her?

It is perfectly legal in Queensland for one party to a conversation to be recording it. There is no way in hell I would have a Tinder date without a recording in any state rife with SJWs and with questionable takes on sexual assault and domestic violence, and Australia definitely qualifies. ABR is the new norm if you want to protect your ass.

Because he decided that he might call the cops to press charges and didn't want her to flee? Didn't precisely know what to do because this was a novel situation? Was fed up and wanted a few minutes to calm everything down?

Citizen's arrest in Queensland allows you to detain someone as long as they are in the midst of committing a felony or have just committed a felony, including property damage. She most definitely had.

I just checked, yes it. I wish I'd recorded a few while I was there.

Maybe.

I'm not saying he's guilty. But I don't think the recording completely exonerates him on its own. He does look considerably bigger and stronger than her and he's coming across as pretty scary towards the end.

I got downvoted for saying this earlier. But it's true, charges have to be laid based on a black and white interpretation of the law. The interpretation of the law is done in the courtroom. As an example, and it's not nearly at the same level of severity, but I was recently, as part of a municipal council, having to sit on a property standards hearing. Someone had complained to the by-law enforcement officer that someone wasn't keeping their lawn tamed. Long story short, the BLO despite not agreeing with the complaint, laid a charge against the resident, who then appealed it. And of course, the by-law was open to interpretation and we decided in favour of the appellant. My point here is that the cops had to charge him based on the evidence present. Would a woman have been charged if the genders were reversed? Probably not, and that's sad, but that doesn't mean we should suspend the working of law for men, it means we should enforce the working of law for women.

Maybe it was the shortest place to keep hold of her safely while calling police.

He didn't call the police though. He called his father.

She can call for help from the balcony. She was trying to get away because she knew she was in the wrong.

I don't buy that.

This was a highrise apartment on the beach. Balconies are often very windy and you can't even hear people speak on them when they're standing right beside you. It's possible no-one could have heard her even if she had screamed.

She allegedly hit him with a telescope. That's not nice but it's hardly reason to try fleeing down a highrise balcony. He also has her stuff inside and they hooked up via tindr so it's not like the police wouldn't have been able to easily find her, even if she had Spidermanned her way safely to the ground.
