I would love to see this study done in the USA and in the UK.

And Canada.

The US and Western Europe would show the same damn thing.

So it is a transfer of wealth, based on a characteristic the government is almost certainly not allowed to discriminate on.

When is the lawsuit?

You can be sure that if any other minority was asked to support a majority in this way, there would be an easily-winnable court case.

You and I both know that it would be unreasonable to try to find out how much money we have put into the system, and whether or not we have done so willingly or not.

However, it does give us a chance to question where we are putting that money, and whether or not we should focus on promoting those sections of the populations to work towards earning their benefits.

Studies like these need to show us what is happening. I didn't even know that is what was happening until I stumbled across it. The more we question these structures and ask how they can be better and be open to changing them, the sooner we can have a proper balance.

this probably explains why 'democrats vs republicans' has turned into 'women vs men'

[–]TheRavenousRabbit 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Men paying for women's expenses is LITERALLY supported by biology. It's how entire sexual selection process works. This is nothing new.

Maybe not for most people with common sense, but then again, that seems to be in short supply.

[–]rg57 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That may be true, but when the government does it, it's illegal.

[–]AppaBearSoup 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, but in the past the men had a choice and could choose not to pay, especially if women didn't want anything to do with him.

Are these the same idiots who worked on the gender pay gap study being thrown around for the past couple of years?

Women don't make as much as men because on average they are the primary caregiver of the family while men are on average the primary provider.

[–]GingerJack76[S] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Obviously, but it's still a problem. How we go about improving this is up in the air, but it's still an issue.

[–]v573v 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I suspect the "problem" would be mostly resolved if we looked at family income instead of individual income.

[–]GingerJack76[S] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean, you're free to see it as not a problem, but I would like to see a change personally where women are not dependent. But that's just me.

Fiscal cap should be placed on any benefits reflecting how much tax a person pays. Pay less tax get less help. Women would then learn to keep their legs shut and get jobs b4 deciding to be single mothers.

[–]dungone 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That kind of thinking is how we get into this kind of mess to begin with. If you're a male breadwinner, it already ensures that you don't take out more than you put in. And if you're a male breadwinner's wife, your benefits also depend on how much he puts in.

Unemployment benefits and social security depend on how much men pay into them. Child support, alimony, it all works the same way. Men pay in, women take out based on the man's rate, sometimes long after the man is already dead. On child support, men pay the taxes on income that the woman received. It keeps men stuck in higher tax bracket while keeping women's low. Lifetime alimony ensures that men can never retire. Other programs designed to help children predominantly benefit single mothers because the Tender Years doctrine left us with the idea of giving child custody to the parent who earns less. If you're a man, the more you make, the more gets taken by all these different means.

You think you'll fix this by introducing a cap? You'd be wrong. In all likelihood you would only hurt men at the bottom, such as those who are homeless or disabled.

[–]Stephen_Morgan 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The whole point of benefit is to help the less well off. They also help children, who haven't paid any tax at all.

[–]omegaphallic 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely true, but I think the question is is all this based on greater need, or are men being denied the kind of benifits women are getting access too. I think the budgets for Departments for the Status of Women would be very telling.

You have to meet a credit check to get a car loan.

But any dumb bitch can have a baby at no cost to her.
