I wonder - might plunging male interest in marriage (and in women generally) have something to do with this sudden clear sight?

[–]Lethn 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't consider this much of a sign of progress, all this article has done is admit that both genders can experience it rather than admitting that men can actually have these problems the same as women and face one sided abuse.

I'm geared to say yes because with ideally, more women who this applies to are trying to figure why they can't find a husband. At the end of the day, most women would describe a successful woman as being happily married with kids. Failed relationships makes it hard to achieve that, and they are starting to learn late in the game what it might take to make that happen.

Men are going galt, and the overseer's at the plantation are trying to placate.

million men reported being victimized by their partner in the previous year. With such a thin line between the kind of slapping that doesn’t leave a mark and something much more dangerous, that is simply unacceptable.

That's the same kind of logic people use to hit their children, which just shows you how some 'partners' view their supposed loved ones, because hitting a person and not leaving a mark is somehow better than if you bruise them.

There is nothing wrong with an occasional and deserved swat on a child's rear as a form of discipline or breaking a tantrum

Is something only a sadist would say.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Not at all. I take no pleasure in spanking my son. I don't like to do it, and I don't do it out of anger or frustration. I do it for a specific purpose and only to get attention. 1 swat over clothes....unlike my father who loved to flog me bare assed with his belt and my mother with her wooden spoon and would literally hit me until all the anger was out of them.

Yeah you're so evolved going from hitting a child with a weapon to doing so with your bare hands and really hitting someone over clothes, how petty are you?

I really don't give a fuck and the downvotes I receive for talking about this as it only furthers my point, if you wouldn't do that to an adult who could fight back you shouldn't do it to a child, you're only doing it because you know you won't get punched in the face.

Where can I aquire these awesome hands?

[–]Lethn -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah you're so evolved going from hitting a child with a weapon to doing so with your bare hands and really hitting someone over clothes, how petty are you? . . . . you're only doing it because you know you won't get punched in the face.

Again, you speak as if I am doing it will some level of maliciousness. It is simply one tool on the corrective discipline ladder (verbal correction, time-outs, confined to room, toys taken away). It happens rarely, but there are times when it is needed. I am "only doing it" because I care about instilling discipline in my child and breaking him of bad behaviors.

[–]Lethn -3 points-2 points-1 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yeah yeah, I've heard that all before, you're just justifying hitting a child, that's the end of it.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There are times when a spanking IS justified. Its part of parenting. If you choose not to spank, fine, but I am not abusing my child for an occasional corrective swat. There is nothing wrong with it.

Meh, give it up man, I'm a dad and I agree with you for the son that I love and the little guy is about the biggest part of my world. That dude arguing with you just needed to get spanked more ;}

[–]Lethn -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You keep telling yourself that.
