Same old tired argument (all violence is male), same old tired statistics (1 in 4 women), same old tired rationalization (I'm telling you for your own good).

A little extra: not all men are violent. Some passively watch and benefit from other men's violence.

Which is the total opposite of Western women, who have bravely fought violent men throughout history, and never, ever benefited from living in countries made rich by conquest and industry.

And yes: the drive to build is the drive to destroy. Thirst for exploration is also hunger for conquest. History remembers greatness, both good and evil.

I can agree that violence is predominately committed by men[1], but why consider 'violence' in a vacuum? Law enforcement is mostly male, crime victims are mostly male etc... In general men are at the top of everything good or bad. If you want to be a misogynist, you only count the good (men win most of the nobel prizes ergo men are great). If you want to be a misandrist you only look at the bad stuff (men start most of the wars ergo men are evil).

[1]The difference between men and women is smaller than the author assumes. The numbers are warped by how differently we treat female violence, but I believe there is still a male predominance in this area.

Not All Men? Well, actually…

Nice title. Also nice image. Where have I seen that before... oh, right.... and here.... Depicting the group you're trying to dehumanize as a giant monster devouring the world is a classic propaganda technique. That said, this is well-done art, and given the business suit I'm guessing it was probably meant to be about capitalism or something. Medium, did the artist even give you permission to use her work in your hateful rhetoric?

After writing that article, and (mistakenly?) reading the pissed-off responses on various social media outlets, I learned a valuable lesson: women should never question men, ever. Even though the vast majority of all violent crime in the world is committed by men. Oh, and don’t forget that all the most destructive industries in the world — e.g., industrial agriculture, necrotechnocracy, sex trafficking, the military industrial complex, etc. etc. .… are dominated and directed by men.

You know what? Screw it. Just change "men" to "blacks" wherever appropriate and enjoy. I'm not reading all this drivel.

You don't know how to respond to this?

1) Until arrest, charge, conviction and incarceration rates stop showing rather large biases in favour of women, we cannot truly know what the ratio of male violence to female violence is. We've been giving them a free pass for so long that no statistics we can cull are going to be even remotely accurate. What can we say? That the numbers we see are absolutely and utterly guaranteed to be LOW.

2) Fortunately, as generally less chivalric female judges, lawyers and police officers come on board, and as more older members of those professions are replaced by younger members, the chivalric bias in favour of women is eroding. Thus, every western jurisdiction is seeing the numbers of female arrests, charges and incarceration skyrocket. We are approaching the true rate of female crime, slowly but surely, and this argument of theirs is going to erode with that climb.

3) Pick any randomly chosen western nation. Add up every last person incarcerated in that country. Assume they are 100% male. Calculate that as a percentage of the men in the country or as a percentage of the overall population. Then ask the hard question: what dim-witted, illogical or deceptive asswipe uses the fraction of a percent of the population our incarcerated represent to smear an entire gender?

Example: Up here in Canada, we have 140K prisoners in prison on any given day. That's 0.4% of the population. Even if you assume that 100% of those prisoners are male, this still only represents 0.8% of the male population. When 100% of women are safe (based on our assumption) and 99.2% of men are safe, what kind of person takes that 0.8% difference and smears an entire gender over it?

A fucking asshole is who. Even someone who bends over backwards to say that she understands that it's "not all men" is still being a fucking asshole, because she's intentionally downplaying exactly how many men are perfectly safe and implying that it's a gender based issue. It's not "some" men that are safe. It's not "a majority of men" that are safe. It's not "most men" that are safe. It's "virtually all men" that are safe. If she chooses to ignore those distinctions, she's a bigot.
