What?! I'm shocked and amazed that you are spreading such disinformation about Taqiyaa. I am a Muslim, and I would like to clarify exactly what Taqiyaa is since it is evident you guys have a warped vision of what it truly is, and the corcumstances it can be used in. First off, Taqiyaa can only be used when one is under immense torture or persecution by someone who is telling them to say something that goes against the tenants of Islam. So, I'll give you a scenario where Taqiya could be rightfully implemented; I am being held hostage and threatened that my hands and feet will be cut off if I do not deny the existence of God. Taqiyaa allows me to say that God does not exist in order to avoid pain and torture. Second off, if I lie to you about Islam, and you convert into Islam because of me, I haven't converted you into Islam have I? I've converted you into a lie, not Islam, so I haven't spread Islam to anyone. Third off, Taqiyya has been used by Muslims through history. Majority of the time it is Shias being oppressed by a Sunni majority. These Shias have had to lie about their religion, say they are Sunni, in order to avoid persecution and possibly, death. Rarely used nowadays, this woman was not in any danger and so she, and most other Muslims you see on the Internet, are not using Taqiyaa because they simply can't. Feel free to reply, please don't believe everything you read on the Internet. I am not a religious Muslim when it comes to down to it, I have doubts in my faith, like most people, but I felt this topic needs to be addressed because it's evident it was misunderstood.

Yes, lets trust this random website obviously slated against Islam to get an opinion on a religion whose book I have never read, morals I have never learned, and people I have never actually listened to. Ignorance truly is bliss. I'm looking at the ayats and I'll explain the first two. 16:106 - This verse was revealed at a time when Muslims persecution was at it's height so yes it does "compel" a Muslim to lie insteadbof letting his captors torture and kill him. 3:28 - This verse was revealed to say that if a Muslim, way back when, wants a protector, then he should pick a protector who is also Muslim because the bonds of religion help the relationship.m Of course I could go through every verse but I'm not going to. If you really want to know, maybe read the Quran yourself for once instead of relying on these shitty websites that provide biased, from the start, opinions.

Websites that push an agenda can be a "source". You just have to understand the bias that is inherent in the source and approach the text in a manner that is befitting given the bias. If you look within the source linked you would find that the information is displayed in such a way that the reader, if doing do diligence by looking at the material linked too and provided for reference, can make up their own mind about what the Quran says in the passages linked and then read the further exposition keeping that in mind.

I would argue that if the direct links to each passage of the holy text did not exist then you could say that the source is not really valid. That being said the way the information is represented, does not inherently try to drive any reader towards a specifically biased point of view, instead it is there to convey facts as pertaining to what is said in the referenced text.

Taqiya (تقیة taqiyyah/taqīyah, literally "prudence, fear, caution")[1][2] is an Islamic term referring to precautionary dissimulation or denial of religious belief and practice in the face of persecution

The root word is literally" self-protect" So right now the Shia in Syria are being prosecuted by ISIS so they can use taqiyya to protect themselves. Ask /r/islam, rather than checking the anti-islam websites and feeding into your confirmation bais. Lying is the 17th greatest sin with severe consequences. I hope I'm not falling on Deaf ears.
