Sadly many boys have been convinced that they need these drugs to be normal. These are men who will never know who they truly are because they will be drugged their entire lives. All they will ever know is themselves drugged. Which is so "Brave New World" like it's terrifying.

The fucking pharmaceutical industry hit a grand slam on this one.

We changed the world, making it inconsistent with our behavior.

Now we give boys drugs and call the boys toxic.

I used to work in juvenile probations. all of my young men had similar issues, and all of the interventions were the same: get them on meds. I'd often suggest to the parents/IEP team: Why don't they work out more? Why don't you help them change their diet? Why don't you stop yelling at them? And the answer: he just needs some drugs and to work harder.

Sigh.

ADHD is probably the current favourite but misdiagnosis and medicating when it's not needed is a very old problem. There are many causes.

General practitioners can prescribe these medications but their training isn't really adequate to diagnose psychological disorders. Parents shouldn't accept a diagnosis from a regular doctor. They should insist on a referral to a specialist.

The existence - in some countries - of extra government support for children with disabilities is a big incentive for some parents to shop around until they find a doctor who diagnoses their kid with ADHD. Kaching! $$$$

By the time they reach high school, nearly 20 percent of all American boys will be diagnosed with ADHD. Millions of those boys will be prescribed a powerful stimulant to "normalize" them. A great many of those boys will suffer serious side effects from those drugs. The shocking truth is that many of those diagnoses are wrong, and that most of those boys are being drugged for no good reason—simply for being boys. It's time we recognize this as a crisis.

This is another intrusion of the Big Pharma into our lives. The corrupt shrinks encourage this abomination. Say no to drugging little kids.

When my younger brother was in elementary school the school continuously tried telling my mom that my brother has learning disabilities and also had ADHD or something of the sort and tried to force her hand into getting him medicated (meanwhile his female aid teacher continuously verbally and physically abused him) she never put him on meds and now in high school he is a straight A student.
