I think rape culture is a about making all sex rape unless it is preceded by a signed, witnessed sex contact, in triplicate.

When I was younger, there was a story doing the rounds about a shoe factory.

It was about a young guy of about 16 in his first job after leaving high school (for a long time, it was normal in the UK to leave at 16 not 18) - he was good-looking, but painfully shy and not very bright.

He started out in the section where mostly women worked and day after day they would make crude sexual remarks about and to him (of the ‘I wouldn’t mind his balls banging against my ass’ variety) - mostly this was just to make him flush red as a beetroot.

Anyway, so the story goes, one day he was mobbed by a large group of women, pushed down onto the floor and then one after another they dropped their knickers to sit on his face.

Whether or not this was an urban legend that had been completely fabricated and whether or not it had a grain of truth that had been heavily embellished, I honestly can't say although the fact that it bears a passing resemblance to a D.H. Lawrence story suggests it’s an urban myth that’s been around for at least a century or more.

But that’s not really the point - the point is that it’s told as a bawdy joke to shock people with and give them a bit of a laugh.

As with so many other things, the reverse version of this story would be unambiguously seen as a sexual assault and be roundly condemned and the men angrily denounced as nonces and rapists who need a good fucking kicking.

Rape culture exists. Men joke about rape amongst themselves because rape is part of the human condition.

Men rape in war. Men rape through mental illness and men rape through desperation to pass on their genes.

Women joke about cutting a man's balls off or taking a man for all he has.

I don't care if women don't want men to joke about rape. If men would just top caring about women and what they think, feminism would die out pretty quick.

If all men reject all feminists and deny them access to sperm donors, feminism would die out within a generation.
