Not sure if this was okay. Yesterday I read a story about how a woman in London was sent home because she refused to wear a uniform that met with policy.

I wrote an angry letter to the author who offered me a chance to rebut the story and I was paid a small sum to do so.

I never passed English in school so to have an opinion piece posted to an Australian news site on its front page today was super rewarding for me and for my views as a man.

As an aside, I'm in new Zealand, grew up in Canada. My stereotype of Aussie business men from 20 or so years ago was that they wore shorts with their suit. Don't know where I got the idea. Would still be hot though.

It's funny because in our office the women can wear whatever they like but the men have to wear suits and ties....so when summer comes around the girls always complain about the air conditioner and so they get their way. They're usually real comfortable while us guys are sweating.

Whilst I agree that men's suits are uncomfortable, what needs to be understood is that high heels are, quite literally, physically bad for health. Over long periods of use they can cause back, knee, hip and foot issues.

I think dress codes are acceptable, but not to the point of causing physical damage to a person. This can be chronic damage in the form of high heels, or acute damage in the form of heat exhaustion.

I'd like to see smart casual more accepted. And flat enclosed shoes for everybody.

I agree with her points, its still to dictate that you cant work job unless you are in heels. That company needs to check up on their dress policies. Its a silly thing to complain about to media like this, she could easily look into unfair dismissal as opposed to just becoming a victim doe the news. That being said the last line of the article puts it right

this isn’t a gender issue.

While a silly policy, im guess this is just one of many weird dress standards this company has and im guessing many just as strange ones for men.

Good point about the shirt collars irritating the neck skin.

I hate those business jackets.

They are so tight around the arm-chest area.

I have to remove them to drive otherwise they cut off blood circulation to my arms.
