I'm looking for any references to journal articles regarding male consumption of porn or sex. Im not really keen on anecdotal evidence or blogs as anyone can contest its ridiculously hard to navigate this landscape without discovering some hidden ideology.

the basis for this is weighing up the old argument "is it biology or social conditioning or both?"

are men today socially conditioned to consume sex or is it all biological drive? if either or both then has consumption increased compared to pre-industrial era or early modernity? if so what is the cause?

it seems to me that men and their relationship to sex or the prospect of sex is at the heart of most dialogue in MR Groups or how MR groups interpret the relationship between men and women. i.e. hypergamy, what are the contractual benefits of marriage for men?, PUAs, etc.

it also seems to me that sex is the predominant mark of power that women are perceived to have over men. sex is seen as currency in exchange for security. although rape is heinous in its own right, our social perspective of marital rape and rape of strangers differs. this may be symptomatic of that contractual arrangement?

anyways what i want to discover is if men are conditioned to be consumers of sex or at least if we are being egged on moreso than usual, how does shape men today? how does it affect male self-actualisation? or in face of womens liberation are men being short changed or held back from having their own sexual liberation by being conditioned to consume and using sex as their measure of masculinity?
