Seems like a lot of modern feminists would say that if women aren't being paid 20% more than men for the same job then there's a "Pay Gap"

[–]FrogTrainer 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They are already setting up this argument with the whole "pink tax" nonsense.

Ladies first mentality. Ridiculous.

I think it was Milo who said he's looking forward to certain companies in the UK being forced by law into disclosing their pay for men and women, for the very reason highlighted by this article.

Having said that, I'd like to see Intel's data and methodology.

Also, fuck Intel's diversity bullshit.

Feminists are actually moving on from the "less money for equal" work meme and now claiming it's social issues forcing women into lower paying fields.

I actually confronted one today about how India has a better ratio of women in STEM than Norway despite being a country that discriminates against girls in education at levels we have not seen in the west since the fucking 1800s.

Just refuses to accept that, literally believes we're discriminating against women more than fucking India is.

Feminist arguments are becoming more and more absurd by the year.

Remember even when women make a fair independent choice if they don't choose what a feminist thinks they should they are making the wrong choice. Note this is not what the feminist would do as rather than doing STEM they are taking gender studies etc and then surprised there are less women engineers.

I don't know about that - just yesterday, Obama mass-emailed every US government employee about Women's History Month, in which he repeatedly referred to the supposed pay discrimination.

Having said that, I'd like to see Intel's data and methodology.

"Here is job title. Here is pay. Here is experience. They are equal"

I'm betting it looks a lot like that with a little talk of margin for error.

The Milo?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Milo Yianopolous, idk how to spell it exactly but he'll pop up on Google.

[–]GARRETTKELLEY 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yea. Thats the milo. I love him.

I'm looking forward to more companies doing this/forced to do this. Finally put this stupid pay gap debate to rest.

[–]AcidJiles 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They will just move it on to supposed social pressures on women not to go into these professions when the only major social pressure has been from feminists claiming women will be held back and under paid which in turn causes less women to do STEM. Feminists created the issue themselves. I wonder what the percentage of women in STEM would be if all women doing gender studies and equivalent courses were doing STEM.

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 88%. (I'm a bot)

Perhaps more interesting, it revealed Wednesday that the company has no pay gap between U.S. men and women who work at the same job-grade level within Intel.

The company said in its report that it conducted a compensation analysis in 2015 that went beyond its annual pay audit to examine gender pay parity for U.S. employees within job grade levels.

Intel's announcement comes just days after President Obama proposed a rule that would require companies to share pay data with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission based on race, gender and ethnicity, providing a way for the federal government to monitor pay disparities at companies.

Two things annoy me about this subject beyond the always ignored part of the "pay gap" never comparing apples to apples.

1) If women are paid more at any company or are over-represented in any particular segment, it is either ignored completely, praised as a "bright spot" or dismissed as the "now you know how it feels" hypocrisy.

2) These types of audits never take into account individual performances. Even if you have two equally qualified people doing the same job, who is to say they get the same performance reviews? One could have a shitty attitude, always causing aggravation, toxic office environment and a million other variables. So come pay increase or promotion time, even if you did a great job as a male or a shitty job as a female, the numbers must be equal otherwise you are guilty of bigotry and sexism.

[–]scanspeak 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Where is the efffort made to increase males in female-dominated fields like government jobs, nursing, & teaching?

[–]smookykins -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's misogyny and stealing jobs from women.

[–]TheDude41 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not surprising. You would find the same thing everywhere, despite what damseling feminists would have people think.

[–]Throwawayingaccount 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

To be completely fair, this is a company saying "We aren't doing anything wrong." The level of potential bias in a company investigating themselves is staggering.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think you're looking at it the wrong way, they probably WANTED to find evidence of that.

This way they can increase the pay, come out and say it and pander to the social justice crowd.

At least they were honest, some other organizations have just blanket increased female pay so they were making as much as male workers doing harder/different jobs.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Or more likely, use it to deny raises to men.

[–]uberbolo 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

you dont think that WOMAN didnt want to find a disparity? she was shcoked for a reason.she believed that bullshit. she wanted it to be real soooo bad

[–]scanspeak 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Nowadays I just assume that any female that works in STEM only got there through a quota system, not by merit. She doesn't get my respect.

I pity the young male graduates and employees working their asses off.

The difference is that OP is right.

[–]speedisavirus 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What are they going to do when disclosure of pay rates by gender show that men are getting discriminated against?

[–]smookykins -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Giving millions of dollars to Anita must have worked!
