/r/FemRadDebates did a survey of demographics -- The results are interesting

I talk on /r/FemRadDebates from time to time. They periodically do surveys, and I thought you guys might be interested in the results

It seems the MRM influence is growing (at least on that Subreddit). When people are asked to give all of their leanings, many more check MRA than they did a year ago, but when asked to check their main identity, fewer are actually checking MRA. This could be a sign that people are being turned off from the MRA because of the attack against the label of Feminism. Anyways, share your thoughts!

Sure, but how many did that? I mean, you're discarding data solely because it doesn't fit your pre-conceived notions (even though I do agree that it is just internet survey data, which isn't the most accurate).

I'm not completely discarding it, but it's more than likely not over 50% of the people on the Subreddit actually have a mental disorder that has been diagnosed by a professional. I don't just blindly follow the results when they are kind of extreme. Also, I'd like to point out that people can choose more than 1 so having under 50% of the votes be "not applicable" does not mean over 50% voted that they have a disorder. Say each person maybe selects 2 on average? Suddenly the numbers become much more reasonable, especially considering a few people that probably misread the question.

But saying that the data is outright false or too unreliable is silly.

Well, you are kind of putting words in my mouth now.

If we are going to disregard the answers given, for whatever reason, then we have to evenly apply that to all questions. In which case, the whole survey becomes unreliable.

Actually, we don't. There is a higher likelihood of some questions being misread/responded to wrong than others. HOWEVER, in the 1st one they said something like 6 male voters put that they are cis and have XX chromosomes so that doesn't make sense. And that was just among the males.

Will do. You look at labels like I don't believe in a god, for instance, because I'm an atheist. In reality, not believing in god is why the label atheist applies to me.

Labels are very convenient as well. If I'm talking to someone and they tell me they are a Progressive Feminist, for instance, I know about where they stand on many issues. Where I'm wrong, they can correct me, and we can move on from there. I can understand what perspective they are coming from. If I know nothing about any labels, I have to go issue by issue to learn their perspective and it takes a lot more time. And then guess what? They'll have labels applied to them anyways. The key is to concentrate on beliefs rather than labels, and while I use labels extensively, I don't get into identity politics very much in the sense where I'm willing to talk to anybody.
