Could Newcastle soon see a legal red-light district? (Or.. in other words how Newcastle could legalise sex work for women but continue to discriminate against and criminalise men who pay for it.)

Good, I'm glad this PUA loser won't be presenting in my country. Men's rights are one thing, demonstrating high pressure techniques to get laid is another.

[–]Buffalo_B 10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm not a fan of PUA's, but their ideas about manipulating women don't seem much different than advice given to women in Cosmo magazine. Ie "How to get your man to X" or "How to use sex to get you want." Banning this guy seems like an overreaction.

[–]dungone -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Who says it would be a bad idea to ban Cosmo employees from entering one's country?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I disagree. High pressure sales is everywhere, from time share sales to car sales to life insurance sales on in. You can't ban someone because they use the techniques used 100% legally elsewhere to separate women from their underwear. If adult women can negotiate a vehicle purchase without the state playing Nanny, they can negotiate a sexual liaison without the state looking over their shoulders, too.

Unless PUAs have broken the law, what's the rationale? They are unseemly? Come on, there's fully blown prostitution going on in Austrailia every day, plus strippers, sex clubs, wife/husband swapping, all sorts of BDSM, drugs, scat, etc. There's nothing this dude is going to bring into the country that isn't already there.

So, what does this accomplish? It means guys like me, who would never be a PUA in any capacity, are simply never going to visit your country. If you're in the game of blocking people at the border when they have no criminal record to point to, so getting into your country is a popularity contest and has nothing to do with actual border security, then I'm not interested in spending my money there. I'll spend it where it's only my actual police history that matters, thank you very much.

What's wrong with consenting adults enjoying each other's bodies?

[–]Imissyourgirlfriend2 -4 points-3 points-2 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

The whole idea of mentally manipulating someone into "consenting".

[–]soalone34 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

mentally manipulating

What are you even talking about? Do you really think they are training people to use some magic combination of words and hypnotize women into fucking them?

There is a PUA community on reddit, /r/Seduction . Like all PUA communities it's mostly comprised of people talking about when they got laid and motivational fluff about not being afraid to approach a woman or whatever. I'm not really into the theories or anything so I could be wrong but I have yet to see any proof of these allegations.

[–]Imissyourgirlfriend2 -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Go read "The Game" by Neil Strauss and tell me it's not manipulation.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So is marketing, advertising, and sales. Are you gonna ban all these trades?

[–]Imissyourgirlfriend2 -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No one is mass marketing or advertising to get women to have sex with them. And yes, there should be more restrictions on that shit.

[–]soalone34 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I did read it. How is that manipulation? Every girl he was with consensually slept with him. He acted charming and interesting to get them too. What's the big deal.

[–]Imissyourgirlfriend2 -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The treat women like objectives, seeing no value in them but trophy fuck's and numbers, even using psychology to diminish their self-esteem.

[–]soalone34 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Treat women like objectives

I'll repeat, what is wrong with two adults consensually enjoying each other's bodies?

use psychology

You make it sound as if they are encouraging slipping girls roofies. I cannot understand how an adult saying something to another adult to make them want to sleep with said adult, is not being consensual. Women are adults and can make their own decisions.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

If your idea of "consenting adults enjoying each other's bodies" is douchebags being trained to use high pressure pickup lines, you are obviously shit with women.

[–]soalone34 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

High pressure pickup lines? What does that even mean.

[–]baserace 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Charm, apparently. Women are seemingly unable to say no.

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton confirmed Mr Allen is now out of the country. The ABC reports Mr Allen had already left Australia before his visa was revoked. Speaking to Sky News, Mr Dutton said “a person associated with this particular movement has had his visa cancelled.” “When you have a look at some of the information that these guys are promoting, it’s pretty repugnant to say the least,” he said.

Seriously, you support visa policies based on "repugnance?" How about revoking automatic entry visas for all obese American women? I find them "repugnant."

A fair few MRAs certainly fit that definition, just like a fair few Feminists fit the reverse.

Yeah, you've got the wrong forum there, bud. Head back out the door and make a right, head straight towards TRP. Don't expect people to respect PUA here.

[–]chavelah 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I loathe and despise PUAs. But goddamnit, as long as they are not advocating anything illegal they should be free to travel throughout the Western world. Mormons can go to Australia. Jehovah's Witnesses can go to Australia. Jews for Jesus can go to Australia. They are clearly willing to let nutters come into their country and elucidate their warped worldview. PUAs shouldn't be singled out.

[–]dungone 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Sure, it might not be fair, but it doesn't matter. Freedom of speech typically covers people who are already in the country, not the ones wishing to enter it.

He's can try requesting political asylum in order to enter the country that is persecuting him, but that's really not how it usually works (I would laugh my ass off). His only real recourse is to lodge a complaint with the embassy of whatever country he's from. If American Jews or Mormons were banned from Australia, you can bet your ass that the US embassy would take up the issue as a diplomatic matter. But that's the only "protection" that you're really going to get.

[–]chavelah 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Just to be clear, Jews For Jesus =/= American Jews (or any kind of Jews). They are a Christian sect known for their obnoxious proselytizing. I can understand why other countries would prefer not to have our obnoxious proselytizers visit. But my preference would be for the parts of the world that have decided to embrace free speech to tolerate tourists who pose no security threat, but are merely irritating.

[–]dungone 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

My preference would be for activists in those countries to pick more worthwhile causes. I'm sure Australia lets in a lot of nasty people into their country, from jihadists to corporate propagandists set out to destroy the planet.

[+]dungone -7 points-6 points-5 points 10 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Who gives a shit, though? This isn't a freedom of speech issue, as you have no right to enter someone else's country. They can ban you for whatever arbitrary reasons they like.

[–]baserace 10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

This isn't a freedom of speech issue, as you have no right to enter someone else's country.

He has no right to enter, but when you're barred from entering a country on the basis of speech, it's also a free speech issue.

[–]Imissyourgirlfriend2 -3 points-2 points-1 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's their fucking country. They can do whatever that damn well please. That's why borders exist.

[–]baserace 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's their fucking country. They can do whatever that damn well please.

Think I've already covered that, brah. Yes, they can.

[+]dungone -6 points-5 points-4 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

No, it's not. It's a sovereignty issue. It's actually quite important to be able to ban people on the basis of speech / ideology, or else you would have every terrorist and foreign propagandist coming in to undermine your country's way of life.

[–]houseaddict 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

How is it not a freedom of speech issue? The australians that paid to go to these seminars are certainly being affected even if you ignore the direct effect on Mr Allen.

[–]mwobuddy 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He can host it on skype or something. I agree, though. The woman is saying he's preaching violence against women in the comments of that article. That's disgusting.

When men have advice to get laid, its digusting. When women have advice for other women on it, its empowering. What.

[+]dungone -6 points-5 points-4 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

He can continue saying whatever he wants, he just can't enter Australia. This is how sovereignty works. People get blocked from entering countries for all sorts of stupid reasons.

Frankly, if you mak a living preaching PUA to wannabe pussy slayers, I don't really give a fuck of you get banned from countries you don't belong to. It's as good of a reason as any.

Who cares? No self-respecting MRA would ever want to go to that batshit crazy country.

At the end of the day, Australians want to be able to travel abroad a lot more than people want to go there. The more trouble they cause for foreign visitors, the more likely they will end up facing capricious restrictions themselves. But the biggest irony of it all is that PUA/TRP pussy beggar types don't believe in men's rights, anyway. So they should have no complaints here. It's really pathetic to come running to MRA forums like whimpering dogs when it turns out you've wasted you dick-wetting advice money.
