I've been through this terminal numerous times.

Chances are the ferry hadn't quite left yet, but due to BC Ferries policy, it doesn't matter. If you're not on the boat 15 minutes before departure, you're waiting for the next one. I've been caught in that position a number of times myself. It is frustrating to know you've just missed your window, but I think the worst I've ever done, even in an already bad mood, was "Ah shit. Oh well."

No excuse for this behavior unless you're a toddler or mentally disabled.
