Reading this article leaves me feeling that the platform that International Men's Day is is being hijacked into an opportunity to highlight a "women" issue.

That said, IMHO South Africa is a rather patriarchal society; I think we legitimately "need more feminism" here among our society, if not in government or in our laws. Yes, we have people who think women should be beaten, and it doesn't seem like an unusual view. Still, the timing of this minister's call smacks of "but what about teh womenz?"
