1. If someone offers you tea, and you DON'T want any, say "I don't want any, thank you." If you are not clear, they might end up making tea unnecessarily. If someone offers you tea, and you drink it just to be polite even though you didn't really want to, they didn't force you to drink it. You are just too weak to stand up for yourself. Most tea-servers don't want to see their guests drinking something they don't like, and most will be happy to get you something else, even if you try the tea and turn out not to like it.

  2. If someone offers you tea and you voluntarily drink it, don't claim months or years later, when you see the person drinking tea with someone else, for example, that you were forced to drink the tea. If you had been forced to drink tea, you would have been aware at the time or shortly thereafter, in 90+% of cases.

  3. Know the difference between drinking tea you don't want because the maker has a gun to your head and drinking tea you don't want so the maker will stop whining and/or guilt-tripping like a petulant child. In the former case, no one disputes you are being forced to drink the tea. In the latter case, you are in no legitimate physical danger; tell the maker to fuck off and get out of the situation.

  4. If you are offered, and drink, tea while in an altered state of mind, don't think you were necessarily forced to drink the tea. As long as you had the capacity to understand that you were being offered tea and the physical and mental ability to express a willingness or unwillingness to have tea, you drank it voluntarily. The fact that you normally hate tea and would never have drunk it if you were in your normal state of mind is irrelevant.

  5. We all have the responsibility to protect ourselves as best we can from harm, even the risk of being forced to drink tea. Now, this does not mean that if you are forced to drink tea, that it is somehow your fault. Our ability to protect ourselves is not foolproof. However, this does not mean that asserting ourselves when being offered tea that we don't want is pointless or a waste of time. In fact, being clear up front and sticking to our guns when we don't want tea is the most effective way to avoid having to drink unwanted tea in most cases.
