The "laughing stock" quote comes from the accuser, so this is not necessarily an example of media mocking submissive male sexuality.

And here at /r/mensrights, we are always on guard for due process and the presumption of innocence. The verdict was reached in only 15 minutes of deliberation, so we are likely missing details.

For example, it seems both parties agree that there was an established relationship of consensual beatings. The jury may have seen evidence that all of the injuries, except a minor cut on the cheek, were to the back from a consistent striking angle. The defense's story of a BDSM session taken too far would seem more plausible then the alleged victim just laying on his stomach while his "raging" partner beat him.
