According to Wikipedia, Russia has not executed anyone since 1996.

So while this is certainly evidence of discrimination, I'm not sure how pressing it is.

Why don't we just do away with the death penalty altogether?

been that way throughout history in most countries. far more men are killed as punishment than women. far far more men are tortured and ruined and maimed in punishments than women.

In Russia Domestic violence is rarely prosecuted. There are separate designated jobs for men and women. There is a lot of pressure on women to get married and have children. It is a bit like the the West in the 1960's. In Russia the man is considered the head of the household. Women and beauty and sex are interlinked but likewise a man defending a female or being macho is linked. The attitudes are very very traditional.

Conscription applies to men only and lasts about 12 months. All of this is redundant since if you are wealthy or well connected no laws apply to you.
