Elam and AVFM are the perfect strawmen for opponents of men's issues. Heck, most feminists I meet have no objections to men's issues, they just object to MRAs. And they equate MRAs with people like Elam. Hateful, abrasive, people. Get rid of the vitriol and a conversation might be possible.

(and I fully acknowledge that there are more than a few feminists who are equally abrasive and lightning rods for controversy. They also need to be ostracised).

I guess you don't remember Glenn Sacks. He was balanced, diplomatic, tactful....and everybody ignored him.

I don't know much about Elam personally, but after following the men's rights movement for the last 15 years, much more attention and progress came from him than the entire 10 years before.
