Women want Wal Mart to give them more 'special treatment' under guise of 'fair treatment' standards.

I would like to think that more women would like to join men's rights organizations because they can see that it's the right thing to do, rather than doing it because they have sons who have fallen victims. Not just because men matter in general, and I'd like to think women are capable of basic empathy towards all men(not just their sons), but because advocating for the rights of men after your son has been put through the grinder is far too late(at that point, emotional, social and physical damages might be way beyond repair).

Early adopters are likely to be people who are personally affected. It will take some time before people see it as safe to join the MHRM 'merely on principle'.

But then again, nothing forces them to carry water for feminists up until their sons get burnt be the policies they supported all along.

Nope. But the phenomenon of social proof means that without hearing dissenting voices, it takes the rare type of person who actually prefers to think independently to go through a gender studies course and not come out believing in feminist ideology.

Evolution has preferentially selected 'go with the flow' types over people who use logic to come to their own conclusions. However, there are now plenty of dissenting voices available to mitigate the influx of new feminists, and as the rate of influx dwindles, the rate of outflux will remain the same or be augmented. Over the next 10 years, I expect the number of mainstream feminists to be cut in half, and the number of MRA's to at least quadruple. When this happens, it will be safe to speak critically of feminism in public and we will have won.

This young girl has learned to use her female privilege at the expense of men

Sounds about right.

I know of at least one high profile radical feminist who saw the light. Her problem was that she defined "feminism" according to the actual definition. She didn't want to cast women as "victims"....and the more research she did the more she found how much crap men were getting stuck with. Unfortunately, she remains a closet men's rights advocate for fear of losing her friends.

To promote equality.

It's why I'm here. I don't see women different than men in liking equality. I don't see why there should be a mystery.

So in short pretty much the same reason men do.

[–]goodfoobar 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Seams the reason often comes down to real word experiences. Many males join because of things that happen to them personally. Many females join because of things that happen to males they care about.

Real world experience is a good quality reason for joining mens rights organizations and I think it is a lot better then guilt trip recruitment campaigns used by other groups.

I started reading this forum for a very different reason. No one I knew went to jail. I've never been falsely accused of anything, nor spent time in prison. My life has been, on the whole, very pleasant. I overcame a serious medical issue, but that's luck of the draw.

I came here because I've always been a contrarian. When people tell me "you shouldn't go there, its forbidden", I'm the kind of person who wants to know why its forbidden. Much of the most important knowledge that I have acquired in this world wasn't taught to me at school, its stuff I picked up as I went along in life.

When people say, for example, that PUA are full of it, I want to listen to what they have to say and decide for myself (my conclusion: a lot of them are, others offer genuinely useful advice). When people say feminism is about equality, I don't listen to that, I look at what the societal consequences are and I decide for myself.

Amber Smith is a 'typical' American Woman ... who owns several pawn stores ...

BULLSHIT

The typical American is not a business owner, let alone own multiple stores.

Amber is clearly upper class. The Author of this journalistic disaster has NO CLUE how a typical American lives ... so fuck 'em.
