36yo woman rapes 12yo boy TWENTY times and gives birth - Victorian government to give the child rapist weekly visitation in jail. That's more than most innocent gathers get! Imagine if it were the reverse.

So he is the step father not the biological father?

[–]Manheiser_Busch 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Yes, sanity.

Sure, she went overboard getting a court order, but he had no legal rights to that child at all. It would have been a travesty if she'd gone after child support, mind you, and we've seen many examples where unrelated men get stabbed in the back for financial support without having the visitation that should always go with that payment.

[–]chavelah 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I would generally agree that a court order is overkill, but it seems a lot less excessive in retrospect.

[–]Corn-Tortilla 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Uh no. In retrospect it still appears excessive. If not for a court order ripping a father and son apart, would the father have taken the son?

[–]chavelah 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

The father isn't mentioned at all in this article. The mother's psycho ex, a guy with multiple passports in different names, is the abductor and/or murderer.

[–]Corn-Tortilla 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

The article discussed at some length how close the stepfather and boy were, and how dedicated the stepfather was to the boy. Apparently, you consider a stepfather to be less of a father than a biological father. As someone raised by a stepfather, I'm going to have to respectifully disagree.

[–]Manheiser_Busch 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's all true, but until that step father legally adopts ... what legal standing does he have?

[–]Corn-Tortilla 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He doesn't have any, but decency would demand that the two not be ripped apart. That said, where I live he could be hit with child support without adopting the boy, or even marrying the mother. So it's a one way road, where a stepfather can be hit with legal responsibilities but have no rights. This kind of injustice has to change.

[+]tiqr -6 points-5 points-4 points 10 years ago (41 children) | Copy Link

... what does this have to do with never having kids? Since when was the MRM about not having kids?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (40 children) | Copy Link

It's the only way men can protect their rights.

[–]RedditorJemi 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Having kids is not the problem. Having kids with a woman who has a legal right to those kids is the problem. This problem will be taken care of when the artificial womb becomes fully viable. Until then, you can find a surrogate in a foreign country that is known to hold women to surrogacy contracts, and you can have kids that are 100% your own. The cost is around $10,000-$20,000 per kid. If you think that's expensive, try divorce.

[–]chavelah -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Please don't have children until and unless you can understand that they are people, not property, and that they deserve the love and attention of both their parents. Deliberately creating children who do not have a mother or a father is appallingly selfish behavior.

[–]RedditorJemi 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Please don't have children until and unless you can understand that they are people, not property

I understand this 100%, and based on my knowledge of women, I also believe that men are far more qualified to treat children as people, rather than property.

and that they deserve the love and attention of both their parents.

If tradcons wanted to argue that point convincingly, they should have done so. Instead they've been busy pandering to the lowest common denominator, which in the GOP would be the religious whackos. You may feel bold thinking that the republican party has your back, but they're not arguing your case very well considering that it was a republican named Ronald Reagan who signed the first 'no fault divorce' bill. Since then things have snowballed, and marriage no longer protects children from losing parents. In fact, it accomplishes the exact opposite, by incentivizing divorce.

Deliberately creating children who do not have a mother or a father is appallingly selfish behavior.

Not in the slightest. Creating children who already know their father, but could lose him at any time is appallingly selfish behavior. I would protect children from that fate, and give them loving fathers who cannot be taken away from them.

[–]chavelah -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I'm not a Republican, or a tradcon. I'm just a a good parent who realizes that fathers are not disposable. Since you obviously consider mothers disposable, please don't have kids until and unless you grow up and are ready to put their needs over your desire to have them be "100% yours."

[–]RedditorJemi 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I never said mother's were disposable. I said they were optional. Theirs a difference. And...

please don't have kids until and unless you grow up and are ready to put their needs over your desire to have them be "100% yours."

Don't tell me what to do. My family life is none of your business.

[–]chavelah -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Renting a womb to create a legally motherless child isn't "family life." It's a selfish man, an impoverished woman, and a trafficked infant. It's every bit as morally revolting as any other form of parental alienation, and every other form of baby-buying.

That's a tradcon argument, and you just said you're not a tradcon. Furthermore, it's nothing but moralizing bullshit. This same argument you've just made would imply that two gay men adopting a baby to raise as their own would be immoral.

It's a selfish man, an impoverished woman

Women are not impoverished by being paid money.

and a trafficked infant

A man leaving a foreign country with his own son is not 'trafficking'.

It's every bit as morally revolting as any other form of parental alienation, and every other form of baby-buying.

Can you provide a citation or an argument for this?

[–]chavelah -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Nobody should have to persuade you that rich people buying babies from poor people, or renting their wombs, is morally revolting. It's not a "tradcon" position. It's something you just realize, independent of any political framework, when you think of other people being actual human beings who matter as much as you do, rather than as objects to be used for your own gratification.

Most of the people who engage in this horrible behavior are straight couples with fertility problems, and it's no more or less bad when single folks or gay couples engage in legal child trafficking. We don't let people in developing nations (or poor folks right here in America) sell their kidneys or pieces of their livers or one of their eyes - but we will line up around the block to buy their children and/or pay them to go through a pregnancy so that we can have "our own" child. Future generations will look back on the adoption and surrogacy industries with horror.

When artifical wombs become available - well, I'm fairly disgusted by the selfishness of women who use gamete donors to create fatherless children, and I'll probably feel the same way about men who use gamete donors to create motherless children. But it would be an improvement over the current situation. It's not a loving choice to make for your child, but at least the child will be the only one being used to gratify the selfish person writing the checks.

You can protect your house by not having any.

Just find non-crazy women. We exist. We can even be mra

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Right so every man who got divorced raped thought he was marrying a crazy woman...

[–]blueXcat -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Many had red flags but you think we're all like that so you go with the flow

[–]SigmundFloyd76 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Dude who got divorce raped here:

My ex was obviously suffering troubles of the mental variety. I truly believed I had something to offer her.

Red flags are hard to see when life gets in the way. And nobody expects to be betrayed.

The lesson? Humans are capable of almost anything if the incentive is great enough. Play the victim to get a house and financial security for life? Where do I sign??

[–]blueXcat 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Thing is, with mental illness, you have to wait for them to get professional help. You can't be the doctor.

I am a borderline woman and I'll never play victim for free stuff. I have self respect

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The problem is more with the laws than with human nature. People here feel helpless against the law more than anything else

[–]blueXcat 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The laws are bad in many situations. Yet we have only 1 life to live and doing only safe things makes us pass on many great things

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I agree with you personally. But I think everyone can make their own decisions. If you think about it, short of going out in the streets and protesting and struggling and being labeled as wusses and stuff, avoiding marriage is an easy and convenient form of protest

[–]SigmundFloyd76 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't disagree. But the actuality of it is that it's dynamic and complicated. There were many variables; the biggest being the systemic bias against men in family court.

She was the violent one, yet on paper it says I was abusive. She was the unstable one, yet on paper it says I was an addict. It was a stunning exercise in futility.

[–]Peter_Principle_ -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

Just find non-crazy women.

Is it "crazy" to take advantage of privileges handed to you on a silver platter by social convention and the legal system where custody of your kids (and not incidentally, a shitton of money and revenge on an ex) are concerned? No, it is not.

So don't try to say that men are at fault in situations like this. At least, don't try it if you want to consider yourself an MRA.

[–]blueXcat 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Yes it's crazy. Like men who were beating their wife when it was legal were still assholes. You can have morals outside of the legal standard.

I would never do that kind of things even if I was able to do it.

what I find bad is that the system sides with crazy. And also, that those women have all the real effective bc methods.

[–]Peter_Principle_ -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Yes it's crazy.

Crazy means acting irrationally. What is irrational about gaining the most advantage over someone that means nothing to you, you no longer like, or even hate?

I would never do that kind of things even if I was able to do it.

Words are cheap. It's easy to rationalize behavior that is beneficial to yourself, or when you feel wronged and want to be vindictive. "I'd never do that to a normal guy, but my ex was really, honestly crazy. Besides, he cheated on me, so he deserves what he gets." The fact remains that a man marrying you or any other woman has zero protection if she decides to game the system - or even not game the system, since default judgments privilege women and destroy men.

Honestly, you're going to claim to be an MRA and then still encourage men to get married with the legal system of marriage geared to divorce-rape men? Shut the fuck up with that stupidity, already.

[–]blueXcat 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago* (15 children) | Copy Link

Well at least where I am, it seems more difficult to fuck over a guy in a divorce than in usa. What is still a long life fight is kids. Whether you're married or not.

I can't even believe Canadian parlament hasn't pass the bill that would make shared custody default.

And I never told anyone to marry, wtf.

The original post says to never have kids. And i said you should find a non-crazy woman instead of never realizing a life wish

How is this encouragin marriage? How is that about marriage?

Meaning also that I wasn't talking about I would not be an asshole in a divorce, but that I wouldn't be an asshole while separating with kids.

I don't want to get married. What's the point ? I have all the rights I need, equally, with my partner after 2 years

[–]Peter_Principle_ -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Encouraging men to have kids is even worse! At least with marriage there's no license revocation or debtors prison. "Just find a non-crazy woman" jesus fucking christ.

While we're at it, should we invest money with that nice guy from the internet who just also happens to be a Nigerian prince? It's safe, just find a non-psycho 409 millionaire.

[–]blueXcat 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Get real, most women aren't assholes. Nor men are assholes just because I was with 3 abusive guys

You should stop reading rp.

Do you get out of your house sometimes or it's too dangerous ?

[–]Peter_Principle_ -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Get real, most women aren't assholes.

And yet, there are A LOT of women collecting child support. Maybe not all women are the type to take advantage of the system, but it does appear to be quite common.

Even if we assume this behavior is rare (which it isn't) there is no way to tell who is and who isn't "an asshole" until it's too late. That's why your recommendation is completely irresponsible.

Nor men are assholes just because I was with 3 abusive guys.

That's not the issue, doofus, but hey, nice strawman. The issue is the legal position that men find themselves in, and then find themselves reliant on the good will, either present or absent, of their SO.

You should stop reading rp.

You should stop trying to argue using silly emotional fallacies and bogshit ho-hum standard female shaming tactics.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah. Seems this sub is going down hill. Men have issues that need to be addressed, but it seems that a lot seem to think staying away from women is the solution. Maybe people just need to find more reasonable women.

[–]Corn-Tortilla 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What makes you think you have any rights to begin with?

[–]chavelah -3 points-2 points-1 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes, don't have kids! Your unstable ex might kidnap them and either kill them or fake their deaths! /s

Jesus Christ. How can anybody have sympathy for this guy? He has either murdered his ex-wife's son or completely uprooted him from his friends and family and changed his identity. He's a fucking psycho.

[–]Corn-Tortilla 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He's a psycho? Maybe he's a father that had his son ripped away from him by a woman and the family court system.

[–]Peter_Principle_ -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How can anybody have sympathy for this guy?

The same way people have sympathy for the French Resistance.
