Dear men, stop reading BuzzFeed.
[–]jdub_06 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
its actually a double double standard. if you look at the authors article history, and the pics he selected(see stole from tumbler) its a safe bet he is gay. being gay is fine... but being gay and writing articles trying to get the object of your affection into the clothing you would rather see him in using shame to do it is fucked up.
its like a man writing a story trying to shame women into more revealing clothes... do you think that would go over well?

BuzzFeed in a nutshell.

Stop wearing cargo shorts? Fuck no. By whose authority?? I love cargo shorts!
[–]jdub_06 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
why is this controversial?
[–]TheWheatOne 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Apparently, if you want to attract women.
They can't make you do it obviously, but doing what the other gender wants is usually a strong motivation to doing certain things.

Wow. "we want to see butts!"
Hilarious double standards. Men liking womens' asses? "stop being a pig!"
Women liking mens asses "Well guess I should buy new pants"

You mean buzzfeed's no standards right? How can you have a double standard if you have no standards?

Relevant

I'm not the biggest BuzzFeed fan, but you did notice that those were posted by two entirely different authors, right?
[–]Omnipraetor 12 points13 points14 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
But a "news" website should have editors, and at least a moderator.
[–]jdub_06 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
worse yet it was a gay guy, a bunch of the pics were of short shorts, he even captioned one about how its good to show off leg.
do you think it would go over well or buzz feed would even allow an article by a man shaming women for not wearing more revealing clothes?
*just to clarify i dont care that hes gay, im pointing out the double standard

To be fair cargo shorts are a fashion abortion.
[–]moderndaycassiusclay 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
To be fair that is insane hyperbole and people that care that much about other peoples' clothing are enormous tools.
[+][deleted] -6 points-5 points-4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
There is such a thing as fashion, style and dressing well. Cargo shorts adhere to none of those. If you see nothing wrong with cargo shorts you're probably the same person that wears fedoras unironically and thinks they look "classy". The same reason I, and many other adults, will cringe when I see a grown man in cargo shorts is the same reason I'd cringe to see a man wearing socks with sandals, or clothes that don't match. If you're an adult dress yourself properly or others won't take you seriously. That's the way the world works.
[–]moderndaycassiusclay 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I have no idea what kind of "adult" world you live in, but the way you feel about fashion is something we like to call an opinion. Most people I know in the professional world only care about what you wear in so far as it isn't lewd or distracting, at least that's my personal impression. I do wear cargo shorts casually, and I have worn a fedora in formal dress, and I happen to think those are both perfectly acceptable choices that aren't the social-life ending abortion you seem to think they are. I've gotten plenty of compliments about my outfits while donning both of those items.
[–]BeastMode253 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Would you care to explain your perspective, or are you just into hyperbolic idiocy?
[–]alXing -4 points-3 points-2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
And you should've been an actual abortion.
[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Whiny mens right activists not knowing anything about fashion. Please be less of a cliche.
[–]wilyame -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
ok. i would like to engage you about this. whats the problem with cargo shorts? plz some1. i like cargo shorts. they have lotsa pockets.
[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
They simply don't look good. They're too baggy and crowded and they make your legs looks smaller and just awkward looking. It's similar to why squar toed shoes are ugly. No one has square toes and having the widest part of your pants stop at the smallest point of your leg just makes you look silly.
[–]aeqvitas331 point 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I think you're confused about what cargo shorts actually look like. The widest part is hardly at your knee. And caring what people wear whether it's cargo shorts or fedoras makes you a tool, not the person wearing them. Nobody gives a fuck what you think about what they wear so it might be kinda mature to not care. Stop being a child.
