Infant circumcision is internationally a billion dollar industry and because within western countries it only happens to males the general populace turns a blind eye. What I find most shocking is that so many parents don't even bother to research such a drastic procedure, even a 15 minute internet search would prove that there are no health benefits while permanently damaging the tissue ( mutilation ) with potentially fatal risks by infection or by bleeding to death. Some parents even ignore the medical research and have the procedure done because of 'cultural reasons' or because 'other parents do it too', which is just complete insanity. Imagine a society where it would be fashionable to cut off everyone's ring fingers, it has no medical benefits but it is fashionable. Anyone would see how insane this is, then why do they not see how insane infant circumcision is?

Men are generally considered disposable so even the bodily integrity of a male infant is of less importance than say money. There is a lot at stake here for the medical aristocracy, many medical professionals who take their hippocratic oath more seriously spoke out against this procedure but they are either silenced or ignored. Countless neutral medical documents indicating no medical benefits are ignored. There's still more than a hundred infants in the US alone each year that die due to unnecessary circumcision, even more that are permanently disfigured or lose their natural reproductive capabilities. It is simply unacceptable.

1) MGM isn't that common in the UK since the NHS won't pay for it.

2)I suspect its less about censorship and more about making sure the motion passes.
