Yeah that's the worst, tried to point out on facebook that as a male I got threatened of rape and murder hundreds of times, that the issue should be about threats not only against people, not solely women.

Got accused of bringing everything back to men, contributing to rape culture, trying to steer the subject back so people don't notice women's issues, and I even got the mother of all circle jerk responses : "You just proved why we need feminism". Seeing how many people view this last one as an actual argument, I can't help but feel it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

The usual crap about feminism being a movement for equality but equality doesn't mean equal support for rape victims. Yes we care about male victims but why should we be required to extend support to them? What exactly does the "care" entail then? "Oh poor you" type of lip-service? Some are even blaming him for intruding upon spaces for female victims.

Nothing about the behaviour of the feminists in that thread is surprising (apart from the lack of feminists calling him a liar, I was expecting some of that), but it's sad to see so many people buying into the stuff peddled by them. Example of male being turned away from support services for rape victims run by feminists, and feminists are not responsible for the lack of support he received.

One of the hardest things to come to terms with as a male is that society only sees you as a disposable commodity. You are on your own and are not deemed worthy of any protections. Should you need them you can expect to not find any resources, and you will be shunned by society for asking for help.

Yeah I feel bad for OP, but I'm curious why his reaction is to be angry at a movement originally intended to advance the rights of women and not at the Men's Rights Movement, a movement intended to advance the rights of men. Why is it the fault of women, and not other men?

Why is it that when people say "feminism isn't about equality" we get "yes it is!" or if we highlight something obviously not about equality, "NAFDT!" But the second people say, "why isn't feminism pushing for men's issues?" We get, "well it's a/started as a women's movement for women's rights!"

Pick one and run with it. You can't have both. Ugh.

And this person acts like MRM can just walk alone. That there's no obstacles [like feminism] to stop us doing something to help men. That's so far out of the realm of reality. We have to over come a lot.

Gender roles are not the only thing at play with men not coming forward. It's that society doesn't care about men. And when confronted with this obvious observable fact, society makes excuses for why it won't support these men. So why, why under these circumstances would men bother? It'd be more damaging to seek help when you know there's nothing for you. It's the lesser of two evils to just deal with it yourself.

Doesn't help that a lot of people who "want to help", either genuinely or not think that men have to act like women in order to get help. Men and women are different, and need to be helped in different ways. Talking endlessly isn't going to help a lot of men through their problems like it may help women.

True that, but money is. As long as there are more rapes of women than men, that's where the money will go. Most of these stats do not include rape of male prisoners in americas' gulags
