Hmm. I don't know if women wise up to this crap as they age, or if the schools are peddling more crap these days:

Among the Baby Boomer ladies from age 45-64, 41 percent say they are hold-out feminists.

And more numbers: women over 65 (28 percent), Gen X women ages 30-44 (32 percent) and Millennials ages 18-29 (42 percent).

The oldest group (from before the 2nd wave of feminism) is the least feminist.

The group coming of age during the 70's heyday of the 2nd wave is the very feminist.

Slightly more are the millennials. I am pretty sure this has to do with indoctrination in the schools, and man-bashing in the culture.

So said Rebecca Solnit in The Guardian on December 30 last year, and it's fair to say she wasn't wrong.

However, and I like to think the two things are related, being heard and being out in public can be a double-edged sword - I really would love to know just how many people who'd previously felt Feminism was a social good were turned off by the idiocy of Shirtgate, Manspreading, Manslamming, 'I'm with Jackie' and all that other liquid fart-water they came up with.

Still, it is worth also bearing in mind these specific results from the Vox survey.

My two cents on this... Regardless of self identifiying as "feminist" or not, I think tons (if not most) of western women hold highly gynocentric values. Conscious or otherwise.

So maybe they don't willingly slap a brand on themselves increasingly viewed as toxic- for that reason or because they think it is too extreme- but I most sincerely doubt they are true egalitarians in any form.

You know, we're probably responsible for a good chunk of this. We don't get everyone who agrees with us to recruit but we sure as hell get the good information out there. Moreover, we really create a strong counterexample to "Feminism = equality" by providing a vision of equality that not only isn't feminist but is actually anti-feminist. We force intellectually honest people to choose if they're a feminist based on belief in actual feminist tenants.

It's not because, you know, Feminists are basically a terrorist organization hell bent on forcing every woman to agree with them.
