On a side note, I understand the impulse to say "I'm not like them!". I mean, I too have always had this image of men as violent as I grew up, and I too thought to myself - I'm different. And so was my brother. And so was my best friend. And my not so best friend. And a few guys I knew. And most of my male teachers. Took me a while to realize that, no, I wasn't different, I just had a skewed perception of maleness.
