It seems like that ("smiling is sexist") was actually an assumption of the study, as was the fact that all men are sexist. The "study" then looked at how the sexist men (ie all of them) broke down into different types of pervert.

Things like this are taking all meaning out of the word "sexist", and just go to show how inept these people are at actually identifying and addressing these issues. If your definition of sexism is pretty much "anything a man does towards women", and doesn't include anything that women do towards men, you are completely out of touch with what constitutes as sexism, if not just entirely out of touch with reality.

On the plus side; the more this type of nonsense is put out there, the more people will distance themselves from the source. Reading the summary was stupid enough. I don't think any moderate would read this and think anything other than "this is absolutely insane".

I read an article years ago, on a yahoo blog of all places at that, about how men can never win in America when it comes to women. The person who wrote the piece was a woman who was questioning why it was so hard to get dates these days.

I wish I could find it, but she fucking nailed it. She used a few example like smiling, holding doors open for women, offering help to a woman and such.

TL;DR version of what I recall: She was saying how women demand to be treated nice by men (example above), but say a man goes to hold a door open for a woman, it offends women, because they are human and fully capable of opening a door just fine. Or if you ask a woman if she needs help carrying something, she is an able bodied human who can lift light things just fine. She basically went on to say women refuse to let men win, ever. If you hold the door, you're a dick for assuming she is too fragile and weak, but if you don't, you're not a gentleman.

This smile crap is just like that. Women want to know where the good men are, well the good men also smile at a girl they find attractive, or even just to be friendly. Yet the same guy is now sexist for smiling, even looking. So said good guy, just puts his head down now and walks by. Why? Because he is a good guy, and part of being a good human is being considerate of others. And when those others tell you you can't be nice, good and so on, what is he to do? Be an asshole?

When it comes to men and women, women will sometimes do and say whatever gives them a win in that moment. And those waves can travel very far when ears are listening.

While I agree that this study is typical gender-studies offal, that site is a cesspool. Right-wing clickbait.
