A man's word is his bond. It's a woman's prerogative to change her mind.

When a man trusts a woman, there are legal repercussions to that trust. When a woman trusts a man, the law will protect her if he violates her trust.

Of fucking it takes a lot for a man to trust a woman.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Trust. Well, the lack thereof. Generally speaking, we (men) do not believe things when they're told to us by women.

True, nor do we trust men like that.

Seriously, If I pointed my finger at someone else and said: "He stole from me!", or: "He assaulted me!" or anything else... do the cops just arrest him and haul him off to federal prison? Do mobs just randomly start forming and start lynching him?

Or do we try to actually figure out the validity of my claims first?

But with women... we should just trust them?

Because women cant possibly lie?

[–]kizzan[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would venture to say we trust women more than men. I have heard of mobs starting in India from false rape claims. Of course, the accuser is always a woman.

[–]Clockw0rk 18 points19 points20 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Ha! Another article playing make believe that there's some magical, invisible force of sexism that just sneaks up and corrupts otherwise "good" men.

Men don't trust women because almost everything they do is surrounded in lies and obscuring the truth.

Lies about rape, lies about domestic violence, lies about their wages. Their magazines and talk shows shamelessly go on about how to flatten that tummy with hose, how to lift those breasts, how to conceal those dark circles, how to minimize those stretchmarks. Leading men on is a tried and true practice of young women. She'll lie about her age, about what school she went to, what job she has, how many partners she's been with, and so on. He buys dinner, he buys drinks, he buys presents and gifts; she's not expected to reciprocate of course, just maybe allow him to get physical, maybe. No guarantees. They'll lie about sleeping around, won't be held to the same standards of contempt for cheating that men face, lie about who the father is to the point of collecting thousands upon thousands of dollars of child support, lie during the divorce, take half your stuff, etc, etc.

This is not an anti-woman rant. This is a bald-faced recognition of behaviors so common to women that they have been turned into television and movie tropes. The problem is, it's not funny anymore.

It's not a "quirk".

We have the internet, we talk to each other, we all now know that women are all predisposed to selfish, manipulative behavior that ranges from robbing us to raping us to stealing away our children, and suffering little to no consequence for any of it.

Trust is earned. What have you done to earn it, women?

I noticed something the other day. I went to my work for my shift, and I noticed on my lunch break that one of the blokes there was a bit down. I asked him if he was alright. He replied that he and his GF had a fight and they had split up. I commiserated with saying "tough break man" (I mean what else can you realy say?)

Of course, perhaps i should of asked him when there was no one else around. There were a group of women who i normally get on with. They overheard and immediately started pestering him for details (not cool ladies) and asking questions. The most common question that was asked was something along the lines of

"What did you do?"

As it turned out he hadn't done anything and she had been the one to cheat on him. However the point i felt hammered in was that people almost always assume that if something went wrong in a relationship, its always the blokes fault.

It pissed me off something chronic.

Edit: it should also be noted that the women at first denied that the GF could of done anything bad. They insisted that he must of done something to start this.

[–]guywithaccount -5 points-4 points-3 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This is not an anti-woman rant.

Could have fooled me.

[–]utmostgentleman 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Part of recognizing that men and women are equals is taking women down off the pedestal that our culture places them on. In doing so you have to recognize and accept that women are just as capable of all the negative behaviors men are. There is nothing in /u/Clockw0rk's list that women aren't capable of and I haven't personally seen women do.

This is the point where you say #notallwomen and I will disagree. All women have the capacity for deceit and worse. Recognizing that is not hate, it's the other side of the bowl of M&Ms metaphor except perhaps a little more honest in that it does not deny that men and women are both equally capable of being the poisoned M&M.

[–]Clockw0rk 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Precisely.

I'm not saying all women are liars. I'm saying that they have a built a culture where these sort of negative behaviors are not only acceptable, but expected and sometimes even celebrated.

Men are not encouraged to rape. You will never see a movie or television show where a guy abuses a woman and is then congratulated by his peers for doing a good thing. Conversely, women are absolutely encouraged to deceive and manipulate. There are thousands of examples of not only fictional depictions of women misleading men for their own gain, but magazines and talk shows which glamourize real instances of it.

It's like the poison M&M analogy, except talk shows and blogs are bragging about how many are poison and how men totally deserve it if they get a bad one.

[–]MittenMagick 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not entirely that he's saying women are capable of that, because in the same vein of logic, someone could go off on a rant about how almost everything men do is wrapped up in rape and putting women down and we would get up in arms about it.

It has to do with his wording. It seems like he is talking about every single women being a liar. That's not true. Every single woman is capable of being a liar, yes, but not every woman is.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is part of the reason why it took an entire high school football team full of women for some of us to finally just consider that Bill Cosby might not be Cliff Huxtable.

Actually, sexual assault allegations a pretty complicated and a large number of accusers still leaves open questions. That's why we were skeptical.

It's how, despite hearing complaints about it from girlfriends, homegirls, cousins, wives, and classmates, so many of us refused to believe how serious street harassment can be until we saw it with our own eyes.

I actually still don't believe that cat-calling is serious. It seems slightly annoying at worst.

[–]thrway_1000 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Nope not a bot. The site still gets hits for donotlink. Found that out recently. Better to use archive. Donotlink is used just fools search engines from putting links higher in their search criteria for people going there.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah, thank you for the heads up.

[–]kizzan[S] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Thank you. I didn't know not to use donotlink. Is there a way for me to change the link now that I already made the post? I an thinking it is too late. Sorry.

[–]thrway_1000 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's not that big a deal. But you can't change it once you post it. You could delete and repost but I think it's not really worth the change. People will look in the thread if they want to skip going directly. I've been doing this for a little bit, so most know.

[–]kizzan[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well I will know to go to archive.today in the future. Thank you.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You should make a post about that. The sub should really know.

This was my first time using another site to avoid giving hits to the orginal site. I didn't know that donotlink does that. No, I am not a bot.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sorry, I was asking if thrway_1000 was a bot. I guess I tried to be a gallant white knight riding to your rescue but got slain by my own ignorance. =p

Makeup, push up padded bras, tummy control underwear, booty shapers, false accusations, birth control fraud, paternity fraud, child support, alimony....yeah, there's NO REASON AT ALL to distrust women. NOPE...NOSIREE!

[–]plsredditstahp -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Tummy control, padded bras, booty shapers... did you ever consider that women do this for themselves? Confidence. Makeup is a hobby to some. Women's worth is pretty much about their appearance. What is the ideal? A skinny (tummy control) woman with nice chest (padded bra) and a nicely shaped butt (booty shapers). And a fresh, cute face. (makeup). Even if some women dress up for the sake of others... why blame them, when they've been taught that hell, this is the way they should be? Men are told to groom, hit the gym and look good in that way, so what's wrong with women also pulling their tricks to look good? I don't know anything about false accusations, alimony, child support and stuff because didn't research it. But once the tummy control underwear, padded bra goes off then I don't see the problem. You go for someone's looks, then be prepared for the tricks in their books.

[–]chafedinksmut 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Because hitting the gym makes you look good, all the rest is a lie crafted by artifice.

[–]plsredditstahp -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Well, women just have more tricks than men in order to be appealing to the other gender. Can't really blame them for that eh, especially when so much of women's value is linked to their appearance.

[–]chafedinksmut 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

/r/feminism is that way ---->, further, it would be great if women didn't put so much value on a man's wallet, and I reject your bullshit assumption.

[–]plsredditstahp -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Why are you so angry? Well come off that way at least. I just don't understand what's wrong with wanting to look pretty. The intention of wanting to look your best doesn't mean that your entire gender is to be distrusted. Men and women just have different ways of doing this, may it be through vigorous exercise (also as a hobby), a shaven face, makeup (also because it's your hobby) or push up bra's.

If I just want a chick for her booty then yes it would be kind of disappointing to find that she had just used a booty shaper. But to be fair, I'd really be quite superficial too as people are more than just their appearance. :)

[–]chafedinksmut 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

I reject the premise of your question, stop projecting on me. Again, if you can't see how faking good looks with powder and shapers is a lie and making yourself look good through diet and exercise is not, then we have nothing to talk about because you won't acknowledge reality. Good day.

[–]plsredditstahp -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago* (10 children) | Copy Link

Okay, let's say that it's a lie. But then... so what if it is? Shouldn't it be more about the intention of people's actions? A girl wants to look pretty. A man using makeup to look better before his boyfriend. Yeah, the makeup isn't him... but what's so bad about it, really? A girl had plastic surgery because she'd been bullied for her small boobs in school. Now she just wants to be happy with herself, fix her poor self esteem. It doesn't mean that you can't trust these people. All I wanted to say. Good day you too

Meet Adam. He has been married to Jenny for 20 years. She was his first and only sexual partner. Adam has become unhappy with his monogamous relationship with his wife. He has brought up this concern several times but she has made it clear she doesnt share it, and will not consider allowing either of them to sleep around. Adam is now in a pickle. He loves jenny, and wants to spend his life with her, but the thought of dying without ever experiencing sex with another partner is extremely troubling to him. The way he sees it, he has 2 options: leave jenny, or cheat on her. He has a right to his happiness doesnt he? Plus, imagine the confidence boost he will get from having another partner. So adam decides to romp around in the back seat of his shitty honda civic with a girl he just met a bar. This way, he feels strong, confident, and fulfilled. He got this out of his system and now he can recommit to hid marriage. Jenny doesnt need to know this. Both parties are now happier. Happy enough they decide to do the deed. But uh-oh! Looks like adam picked up an std in the back of his honda, and has shared it with his wife! Now both their bits are itchin' and the marriage is all but over. Had jenny known about adams fling, she could have made an informed decision about the relationship and drcided against sex with him, but that detail of his life was hidden from her. He was trying to save their marriage, but now its much worse than just a divorce. Does jenny give a damn about his intentions? Should she trust him again after this? Hell no! His actions and lies override his arguably noble intentions. Now, do i think makeup is the same as STDs? Of course not. But you cannot say that intentions are more important than actions. Nor can you deny that our culture creates encourages girls and women to tell 'white lies' and stretch truths.

[–]chafedinksmut 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

For the same reason we don't take into account the intentions of murderers who're sending babies to heaven before they can sin, for example. What's bad about all this stuff? It's dishonest, and again, if you can't see that, then we have nothing to discuss. Good day.

[–]plsredditstahp -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

To murder someone for the sake of them getting to heaven is totally different. It affects someone else, and is illegal because people have the right to their own lives. But if you like to enhance your butt for your own sake I don't really see the problem, because it's really not of much harm to anyone else. It doesn't infringe on other's rights, it may make a woman feel better about herself, why not?

Honesty is appreciated because most often lying leads to a lot of hurt. We're taught that lying is bad since childhood. But in the case of wearing makeup...who is hurt by this fake appearance? It's a relatively harmless lie, so don't see how it could be a basis for distrusting women in general.

[–]notnotnotfred 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

it actually stated pretty good, until devolving to "men need to listen more."

[–]synn89 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The problem with this is he's using his wife as a test case. A relationship with a wife or girlfriend is a completely different thing than one with a friend. The relationship dynamic allows for her to bring up emotional stuff she's over reacting about, because that's part of the relationship job: listening to your SO vent.

So from that perspective, your wife is going to come off as more emotionally unstable than a male friend who isn't going to put his baggage on your doorstep.
