I was commenting on an askreddit thread when I thought of this, and I thought it might deserve its own discussion. (comment here if you're interested).

Now I'm not saying this is the only problem, but in my opinion, the biggest problem with feminism is the way they like to claim men's issues within their mandate. Because it makes any men's movement seem superfluous and selfish by comparison. Of course they only pay lip-service to men's issues, and only when someone calls them out for neglecting those issues, but mainstream types don't pay attention long enough to figure that out. This actually marginalizes men by marginalizing us.

Of course, issue-to-issue, if the MRM is at odds with feminism then so be it. We will blame them and rightly so for things like the Duluth model, the Tender Years doctrine, college rape tribunals, etc. We should continue to criticize their pseudo-intellectual BS like Patriarchy theory, intersectionality, standpoint theory, and the rest. But what we should no longer waste time on is pointing out their hypocrisy regarding men's issues, at least within the community itself. Put the explanation on the sidebar for newbs and move on, and the larger community should behave similarly.

In other words, I kind of think we need to put the anti-feminism thing behind us except on an issue-to-issue, event-to-event basis. I am one of those believe very strongly that feminism is more an inevitable result of the confluence of innate gynocentrism and technological abundance than it is a human invention. Traditionalism was just as gynocentric (if less obvious about it), and the lesson here should be that the innate human preference for the feminine doesn't go away, it simply changes the way it expresses itself. Focusing entirely on feminism sort of misses the point.

Additionally, we should be focusing on determining exactly on how to help boys and men develop positive male identity and have more control over their lives and more room for error.

Not that this community doesn't do the things I suggest already. I'm just suggesting we do more of it.
