which means every 2 minutes a crime against someone you love takes place.

They're not even trying to hide those emotional-appeal phrases. I don't know 99.99% percent of those people getting raped. So no. That crime probably only occur to someone I know (much less "love") maybe once in a lifetime. I know I'm being a sour grape about this, but I think it's fair game if it's brought up right after the statistics.

What's even more disturbing is that 68% of these crimes are unreported, and 98% of rapists do not spend any jail time.

I can't stand this one. Seriously, look at it, from RAINN itself.

This is what people mean when they want us to "just believe" anyone who makes a rape accusation: someone not being imprisoned for a crime that they couldn't have been proven to be responsible for beyond a reasonable doubt will still be labeled as a rapist. Keep in mind, that's 41% of alleged rapists, according to their data, and 89% of people who have ever been accused through the police.

undoing "rape culture"? hmm, let me try:

if the population of England and Wales was 64.1 million in 2013 (latest solid data, let's say 64 for ease) and crime statistics for that year recorded 19,124 rapes (say 20,000 for ease) and that victim based crimes numbered 3,107,159 (lets round down to 3 mil) then it seems that 20,000 rapes in a population of 64 million is 1 in 3200.... sure, even one is too many, but not exactly an epidemic or evidence of a culture. OK, but as a percentage of victim based crime, it must be high, we read about it so often but, 20000 in 3 million? well thats.... 0.6%. so, what constitutes a rape culture?

Could the rape culture be the hoardes of men (and women) that celebrate and practice this crime? well, at 20,000 in 64 million, that would be 0.03% of the population.

Maybe you're having more "success" in the US? population of >315million and annual reported rapes of <90,000. that's one in 3500. and if each rape equalled one rapist, you've got less than 0.03% of the population as rapists. you're less rapier than most of the UK, congrats.

Perhaps the problem is that rape isnt taken seriously? Well, in the UK, the average sentence for rape is more than eight years – longer than the average prison term for manslaughter and carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. so that can't be it.

Ah, but i've heard convictions are low, very low, shockingly low... the conviction rate for rape is 58% compared to the conviction rate for reportable crimes of all types being 57%. so no joy there either.

"rape culture" (as used by feminists and the media) is undone. i just undid it.
