Edit-Grammar(that thing is fun right?)
Hello people of MensRights this is just a part of my day that bugged me that I wanted to share. So I am a 4th year in High school currently involved with a Social media style of class. In this class we make and shoot a television program we show to our school, we do this in the style of the news with a little flair comedy, jokes, nonsense, ect. So on this Wednesday morning we were in the process of talking about our new episode how we could improve it from the last episode that sorta thing. The conversation ended up on personal shortcomings and as a group how we needed to fix this, one of our anchors our female anchor(we have a male and female anchor) was talking about the problem she was having. Her problem was that or other anchor our male anchor was changing things in their script without telling her and that this really bothered her. Then our only other female member of staff said "speaking as the only 2 women I feel we are very disrespected...." and when I heard those words I cut her off(ironic I know) and said "well...umm I don't think tha" of course I was interrupted for interrupting her and she resumed saying that sort of thing was exactly what she was talking about. What really bothered me though was that she was saying the disrespect in our group this is high school so yes there is disrespect was because she was a woman. Not because every person in this class had a level of control issues including herself and that it was butting personality's or just a level of careless ness but that she had a vagina and we all had penises. This is a class and the kind of things that constitute disrespect are not consulting on changing scripts and talking over other people or feeling like ideas are being ignored(her examples). In her mind this happened not because of people having problems with other people but because men oppressing women "patriarchy"she is a feminist and has mention this idea on numerous occasions. I know this seems small and insignificant and high school style bullshit and drama but I hate how she thought it was okay to tie her problems with the group to her gender as if it was relevant.
Edit- Reading the comments and I very much agree with them. I talked to the teacher of the class about it and he seemed to think it was directed more at one specific person in the group. I just said if that was the case there was no need to phrase the statement like that and then talk about all the men in the group. Although he also said I had no right to be upset as a white male and no one would take my complaints seriously...Although he did agree with me she was wrong. But that if she perceived sexism then regardless of whether or not it was there we needed to respect that.
TL:DR She isn't an ass, I'm sexist/s.
