how can you be the ...perpetrator of domestic violence, even if they had not been arrested, charged or found guilty???? don't understand that one bit. the point is that women can now have removed from the house and have their property taken away on the say-so of the wife. worrying stuff.

In the UK, guns are a privilege. It is, in the majority opinion, better to be safe than sorry. It's up to the local police whether or not you get a license.

The force's approach was "victim-based", so people could say if they believed their partners or family members should be allowed to keep guns.

This is the future of due process, everybody. if the "victim" feels you don't deserve rights or liberty, you don't get to keep them. These aren't even men accused of crimes, yet a family member or partner gets to decide if they can own guns or not.

This is is sensationalist bullshit.

police do this all the time and always have, they sometimes do surprise inspections etc.

the refuse and confiscate firearms all the time based solely on judgement or change in risk.

for example a girlfriend can ring up and say you are being angry or making threats and they will remove the gun with zero evidence (you get it back obviously) but they temporarily suspend your license or access to firearms as a precaution be it rumour facebook or whatever.

Uk doesnt have a right to bear arms, having a firearm is at the discretion of the local police licensing officer constabulary.

including home visits chat about "why you need/want a gun" etc.

sounds harsh and horrible, but its better than living in a society with guns and shootings everywhere.

UK generally likes its gun free society, and doesn't want police to have guns (police dont want them either).

may seem odd to american eyes, but this story isnt as significant as it first appears.
