Always report.

If you're talking about a DV situation, then yes you should self-extricate yourself from the house first, and then report. Many areas will not arrest a woman for DV without arresting the man as well, regardless of who the original aggressor was. Instead of forcing the police to separate you both, separate yourself before pressing forward.

But you should always report when you're being abused by a woman because she might report you, and then it becomes a case that you made accusations after she did and yours will get thrown out.

It'll be a legal struggle, full of biases against you, but if you don't report then you can never win free. It's possible that some of those biases will be blatant enough to win court awards later. Nothing like strutting around in your "The State is bigoted, and that's why I'm a millionaire" t-shirt.

Seek help. It doesn't matter the gender, age, race of an abused victim. Abuse is abuse.

I'm currently a student in a human service program. One of the things that have been brought to my attention frequently is the lack of social services for men.

Of course, verbal abuse is more prevenient then physical (not saying it doesn't happen) when there's a male victim. However because of the "stereotypes " around masculinity its harder for men to seek help.

My advice; if the victim knows the abuse is wrong go see a counselor. They can help you make a choice on how to go through with leaving the relationship or fixing it. (All depending on the people/situation).

I didn't report for that very reason.

I didn't report. I knew nothing would happen to her, and I didn't like the idea of a station full of police officers laughing behind my back the second I walked out of there.

make no mistake, you need to GTFO ASAP. the scary part is that she can flip it and tell the police that you hit her. i think that's sick in this day and age but there is a way.

i think starting off by talking to physician would be the right way to start. maybe they can walk you through your situation. hit your local sub reddit, ask them to recommend a cool, younger, male doctor. the younger physicians seem a little more open minded and educated about things like this. ask the doctor for a referral to a counselor that has experience in that field. that will get the ball rolling for you. also ask your local sub reddit if there are any support groups for men in this situation.

good luck, brother. i was there. GTFO! if she has ever put her hands on you, or threatened to file a false report on you, you need to take the initiative.
